The Conservative Party

I really don't understand this government.

It appears that some nail gel polishes can set up allergies that prevent those afflicted from ever getting cataracts treated, or having joint replacements and other medical operations.

The government response? Not "we will immediately look at a ban on the stuff causing the problem" but "anyone affected should in the first instance contact their trading standards office".

It seems astonishing that the govt want to not engage at all directly, settling for selective quoting of salaries which are not like for like and causing even more annoyance.
Everyone knows that the junior doctors aren't expecting 35% - as Hislop said a few months back, the govt are just ignoring how industrial disputes are resolved.

Have they really said that? That's just a mad response.

The composition almost certainly has been okayed for use - if it's just HEMA (as described on the news earlier), it's a very common compound - it's in many soft contact lenses, for example.

Who runs most of these nail gel polishing places...?

".. the government's Office for Product Safety and Standards confirmed it was investigating and said the first point of contact for anyone developing an allergy after using a polish is their local trading standards department.
In a statement it said: "All cosmetics made available in the UK must comply with strict safety laws. This includes a list of ingredients to enable consumers with allergies to identify products that may be unsuitable for them."

So how do you know you're allergic to the stuff until it's potentially too late?

The BBC page on this seems pretty clear - without the right strength UV light to treat it, the gel will be absorbed into the skin/nail, and that's not a good thing. Use the right UV light, and it would be fine.

I expect that the ingredients will all be known and cleared for use. It may come down to the instructions on use, and of course whether people use it right.

That is disgraceful behaviour. Not only telling absolute lies and the CS being complicit, they haven’t even got the balls to come out and be honest with the public about not wanting to give any form of pay rise.

Personally, I think they are happy for all these disputes to linger to further erode the services and allow their chums to bite off even huger chunks of the Dept. They are happy to allow it to fail to take it even further into decay.

Tories, well at least this current batch, are absolute scum.

Hancock asks for £1428 per hour to work for fake South Korean company

Kwarteng asks for £1428 per hour to work for fake South Korean company

Brady asks for £500 per hour to work for fake South Korean company

Junior Doctors ask for £19 per hour to save lives but apparently thats considered excessive by the Tories.

Just a gentle reminder that ALL MP's receive a £2400 pa pay rise this week.
