Yes I have and it's shit, you pontificate yourself into a creamy mess and leave everyone with eyes that see a chance to avoid the mess you make.

Good day sir.

I think it’s a fair question to ask given how many people have admitted they haven’t in the media thread.

Again, your claim is that the club adopted the coat of arms of Manchester as a crest, but secretly changed the meaning of one element to mean something else.

Quite a lot of mental gymnastics going on there.

No that is your claim. I am nkt claiming they adopted it and changed it. I am saying they used a symbol of a ship, with the widely held view it represented the canal that opened the same year. Just because a ship was used elsewhere, doesn't make it the same meaning.

Ships existed before they were used in that period that involved slavery. And long after. As all symbols, they can be used to symbolise a variety of things.

That is not gymnastics, that is just basic awareness.

If you are defending some gimp connecting a cartoon ship on a few football badges with slavery you need to re-evaluate your priorities, it basically suggests that all ships are bad.

The piece is stupidly called Abandon Ship, I wouldn't be surprised if the anti this and that gang will read it and go to Manchester with chisels and orange paint.

If you take this argument all the way you might as well demolish civic buildings, libraries, universities, galleries, parks etc etc in all major cities from Glasgow to Sydney.

They didn’t use a ship, they used the Manchester coat of arms.

If it was a random ship, you could definitely argue it’s got nothing to do with the Manchester coat of arms, but they literally copied the coat of arms exactly.

Obviously ships can mean lots of things, and they can represent lots of things, but a ship put on a crest in 1840 can’t represent a canal that wouldn’t be built for 50 years.

Why any blue would give that City hating publication traffic is beyond me!

It does make it very difficult to have a conversation about the merits, or lack thereof, of an article when half the people arguing haven’t read it but are really angry about it.
That's fair enough mate can't argue that. Maybe if it wasn't a City hating rag more people would've read it myself included.

Does that also include the friendship ??

If that friendship has anything to do with Manchester or red faced people yes.

Friendship was banned decades ago when Andy Pandy got in the basket with Loopy Loo in watch with mother and Blue Peter presenters of the female kind were getting knocked up by rogues and scoundrels.
