Bayern Munich (A) | Post Match Thread

Cruised it against one of the 3 best teams in Europe and we were pretty shit tonight in all honesty. Haaland gives us that extra something, very much the missing piece.

That ref was a joke, tried to make everything about him. As for that penalty, just wow. A staggeringly shit decision. I genuinely laughed when I saw mane ask for it, Tuchel fucking laughed at it, that's how pathetic of a decision it was.

Ake injury is a colossal blow for us though.not having him to pocket saka again is going to hurt us. If we are lucky it could be just a tweak and he's taking no risk but if that's hamstring injury as it looks, that's 4-6 weeks, might see him back for any final we might make it to.
Gomez will appear and play a hero's role don't worry

Professional performance and that’s all that was required. Top effort from everyone tonight!!! Shame about Ake though.

Such a professional performance, but we need to show more composure when going ahead in these European away games. We suddenly stopped playing and were inviting Bayern on all the time. Great defending throughout and Akanji motm.
Bring on Real, let's not fear them
Rubbish mate 'we stoped playing ' we soaked up the pressure and that's what you do when you 3 or 4 up

What?? Rodri out would mean our season is over.
I hope nothing serious at all. And even though Phillips seems like an ex football player right now, I say put Phillips against Sheffield.
What does Sam fuckin Lee know?
If Rodri pulled a muscle in the warm up, he either wouldn't have even started, or wouldn't have lasted anything like 90 minutes.
Bollocks.

First of all, what a fantastic match it was, I think we played very well.

But, I think we have a serious problem with the penalties. We simply missed too many in the last years.
I'm not blaming Haaland or saying this because he missed one; this is something that I think for a long time.
I think we really need to improve our penalty shooting (and stopping). In this moment, I would feel in disadvantage in a penalty shootout, and that's a situation that we could easily find.

Leaving that aside, get ready, Real Madrid, we want revenge and we are going to take it!

Two non penalties, in my opinion. But once he'd given ours, he was bound to give them their one, to avoid accusations of bias or inconsistency.
The first, against Bayern, was harsh, but there was a shot, on target, and the player moved his arm towards the ball which, admittedly, he barely touched - so it was harsh. The second, against City, was ridiculous: ball bounces vertically up from player's foot to hand, having been hit hard at his foot; the ball was not, at the point of impact, going towards goal, or towards another player. (I suppose that it could be seen as a bit of lightning-fast foot-hand coordination, but I'm not persuaded.) If any contact with a hand is now to be given as a penalty then we are in for some lively times, but I suspect that the "rule" won't be applied so strictly, in which case there will be inconsistency, and even more liveliness.

Well that was exhausting.

It just goes to show the level city play most weeks and how superior we are to nearly every other team that it takes the great Bayern to make us sweat for an hour.

No negatives here. It looked hard at times for the players and they suffered but showed another side which is resilience. Dug deep and got us through. These moments will be needed again against a good real team who unlike Bayern will take their chances.

Ake is a blow but hopefully we can manage over the next week especially against Arsenal. We will need the squad against Sheffield on Saturday to get through.

Onwards we go. 1 step closer to lifting the champions league and an unthinkable treble is not done just yet.

Phew…and breathe.

Over the moon with that, really professional performance only shame was not getting a clean sheet in both ties (think we can forgive that now though) hopefully Ake injury not too serious and just a precaution.

On a side I hope to never see that fuck Cancelo in a City shirt again, was on the fence with the booing last week and maybe that’s what caused it but to so visibly celebrate the Haaland miss he can fuck off, aside from that he’s shown nothing over the two legs anyway to make me think he’s got a future here.

On to Saturday now.

Gutted we didn't hold on for the win, and Ake injury is a worry.

Dias stepped up second half and we showed plenty of smarts.

Thought Rodders, Kev and Gundo were well off it tonight?

C'mon City!
You know what though mate, how very 'Madrid-esque' were we tonight.

I said to a mate how typical Reals win at the Bridge was last night, let Chelsea have all the ball, all the chances, all the hope. Then sucker punched them and killed the tie. Without even playing that well.

I recall the Barca tie early in Peps reign where they stuffed us 4-0. Messi hat trick and he barely touched the ball. Winning via pedigree.

Feel like we've slipped up into that group of teams in Europe now that have the experience to find a way. We owe them stuffy fuckers some revenge in the semi.

Top Top Performance, if Haaland scores the pen that the first half would of been perfect.

I get we always want to dominate games, out score the opponent, have all of the ball, but we've seen year after year that's not what wins this competition, it's performances like these, real have been doing them for years.

We played against probably the best team in Europe this season other than us, 100+ goals, 8/8 in the competition before they met us (in a group that contains one of the other semi finalists) and we only conceded a goal because of a horrible pen rule/call.

They were always going to have some chances, that's just what happens against this level of opponent, it's about ensuring they don't have a lot of them, or the chances are hard, which I think for the most part we did do.
