Season Tickets - 2023/24

Of course it boils down to FFP

Wages in the private sector are up over 6% YOY

Food costs are up over 15% YOY

the club are being scrutinised over third party sponsorship so unfortunately the fans have to bear the brunt of this cost increase

without FFP we wouldn’t have seen any increase this or any year since it’s inception

FFP excuse?!

What a croc of shite!

Protests?

The numerous OSC’s won’t get involved as they are too affiliated to the club.

Has Ken Parker issued a statement yet? Just asking.

Bar City Matters and 1894, who else is going to campaign and organise a protest about continual season ticket and match day ticket price rises?

Nobody!

Me too but I guess at least the 3-4000 at the top of the chain do but I would imagine there are many that have never cancelled it. It’s jus a complete money making racket that should never have been introduced in the first place.
I’ve never cancelled it because I’m a lazy twat and I reckon probably the only time in recent years that I’ve needed the extra points it gave me was Porto. I think I’ve got about 17000. But then again my mate who came with me who didn’t have as many points got one from fifa anyway so I probably didn’t even need it anyway.

I’ve made a mental note to cancel it.

SSL1, block 115 + Platinum + all cup schemes.

£760 divided by 19 PL homes games is £40 per game

Add domestic Carabao Cup and FA Cup home games. Add CL group stage games. Add CL knockout stage games. Add away games if you’re lucky enough to get away tickets. Carabao Cup final, FA Cup final, CL cup final.

It’s no longer just £760 a season.
It’s a pricey hobby. Im surprised no one has trotted out the just give up fags and booze. Used to be regular comment on here.

I do think the club has missed an oppurtunity to make a statement.

The reality is that the price increase makes a 2%-3% difference in match day revenue which probably equates to 0.5% of total revenue. Compare that to the minimum of 8% increase in matchday revenue the north stand expansion will bring and this is a minimum because the likelyhood there will be premium seats either there or elsewhere which will increase this further.

To further put this into context the north stand expansion will cost £300m. The increase in ticket prices for this year will return 0.5% of that cost next year, I.e. basically nothing.

I'm not saying match day revenue does not matter because commercial revenue is much higher, just that the increase makes negligible difference compared to other plans the club has to bring in more revenue.

So yes, the price increase is still good value for money, dont think many would dispute that. Equally yes the club need to be commercial, but putting everything into context the increase is questionable.

I'm a little reluctant to blame the owner because at the same time he paid for transport to the Champions League final for many supporters and the club does make the odd gesture during the year which effectively claws back the increase but I do think they have missed an oppurtintuy to make a statement.
What was this years because I don’t remember that one?

Spent nearly £4,000 on City this year for every game and enjoyed it much more than in the 70s when I paid £17 in the Kippax. CITD. Season tickets were only EVER for home games so why are you adding cup games to it???

*a bit tongue in cheek*

I’ll pay the extra whatever it might be IF the club promise me they will not sign either Kane or Bellingham. That sounds fair enough to me.

I am lucky enough to be able to afford the increase but only because I spend nothing else on the matches apart from the price of the ticket. I have a concession pass for the tram….that costs me £10 per yr only. I rarely buy food or drink in the ground. Plus I’ve never smoked and rarely have an alcoholic drink. So I can afford the increase.m

However I do think that folk have a legitimate right to complain as this is a forum and debate is the reason for it surely.

I’m sorry if that sounds a bit I’m all right Jack I don’t mean it to. There were quite a few years when I was raising my kids when I couldn’t afford a match never mind a season card so I am making up for those days. :-)

Obviously we don’t need Kane anymore but what have you against Bellingham if you don’t mind me asking?

I’d never have dreamed we’d become a tourist club, but we slowly or quickly are,a Chinese lad sat in front of me other night with an old City top on with JESUS on the back of it,now you tell me who he was supporting,I wasn’t completely sure at all.

I know a few who ain’t come back since covid, and the more who decide not to renew is only gonna make it a tourist club, sad but true

Someone summed it up perfectly a few posts back,in 9 words -we were the ones that kept the lights on @dickie davies it was

If you feel strongly enough, why not start a campaign to get everyone to do it in protest ? Perhaps 1894 could drive this ?

I fucked it off years ago, because I saw it was complete con to take your money.
I'd be wasting my time. There are still too many fans who want it.

£730 divided by 19 - under £40 a game. I honestly don’t think that is bad at all to be honest. My kids have just order a fucking Nando’s and it has just cost me £77 quid. Is a pound a week worth using the word disgusted??

Reality check, mate?

You spent £77 on a Nandos, I spent £91 today at Aldi for my family's entire week's food shop.

It's disgusting for many.

When it's combined with me also paying for my son, the increases across the board in regards the cost of living.

My quarterly BT bill came today, it's gone up £50, the gas, electric, mobile phone, food, everything costs more and my income is moving further down as companies cut their own cloth accordingly.

My use of the word disgusting also tied in to the timing. In a month when people are trying to find money for Madrid and a Cup Final.

As Chief Executive of City, does any know how much Soriano is on a year now?

Looking forward to Khaldoon’s end of season speech. Once again, no mention of the season ticket prices rises and an explanation of why.

What are fans prepared to do about this?

There are a few things supporters groups can put out, but without the masses getting involved they won’t work.

I’d be reluctant to do anything that affects the atmosphere at our remaining games this year (walk outs and disrupting games off the cards).

We (1894) have tried to pressure city on ticket price rises for years and nothing has worked.

That leaves options like:

- Post match sit-ins
- cup scheme boycotts
- platinum membership boycotts
- protests at CFA

These things could work. But they would require people to actually do something and get involved (rather than sit back and hope 1894 do it for them). They require solidarity and sacrifice from the majority. Would people get involved? Because if not, there’s nothing we can do.

Genuinely open to any feedback or suggestions.
Would a banner be possible at the real game- a go fund me to fund it? It’d be in view for the board to see in person and maybe understand the sentiment- help out the legacy/local fans.

6pm on a Friday too, knowing full well that it would be the last act before a bank holiday weekend. They know it's unpopular. We know they know it's unpopular. They know we know they know it's unpopular. But on they crack anyway.

I'm not going to fall out with anyone (will be my one and only comment), but ignoring the football we watch for a minute, I think the rise is pretty reasonable, and the biggest reason for that, is that City are a business.

Businesses (and individuals, as many are pointing out) are having to take on often huge price increases, so why should City (just like Tesco, or your local pub/restaurant) not pass it on the same ?

We all know that the costs of running any business over the last 12 months has gone up a lot more than the 5% (ish) City are asking. I would imagine that costs of contractors (staff and supplies) has gone up very significantly, not to mention energy price rises for both the club, and it's contractors.
We (paying supporters) are the reason our owners have a business in MCFC, because us paying supporters who went through thin and Rizla paper fuckin' thin are THE VERY REASON they chose to invest in us in the first place because of our(then) fan base and future potential!

Every end of season speech Khaldoon Al Mubarak gives us the same spiel that they care about local supporters. Well they do indeed care, but only if your pockets have enough cash in them to withstand the year on year price increases it takes to carry on going through the turnstiles...
