Muffin or Barm

It's basically an argument about what you call these

Some strange folk call them barms when the correct term is muffin.
That is clearly a breakfast muffin.

This is an Oven Bottom Muffin:

Thanks. If they're bread rolls, we ask for a chip cob here in Derbyshire. I thought a muffin was a small cake you buy in Costa.

appear to have that misconception too.

Early cakes in England were also essentially bread: the most obvious differences between a "cake" and "bread" were the round, flat shape of the cakes, and the cooking method, which turned cakes over once while cooking, while bread was left upright throughout the baking process.[5]
