United (N) | FA Cup Final | Post-Match Thread

Actually if we go on to win the treble it could become like the Aguero goal played over and over for years to come
Imagine how painful that would be for the RB
Yep, that's what I was getting at but you said it better. It's been shown a lot over the weekend but if we win the Champions League then that Gundogan goal is going to be replayed so many times in the future that it'll make it impossible for them to ever forget it.

I watched the first half earlier.

The stamp on Manuel was an ankle-breaker; I hadn’t realised how far over Manu's foot twisted.

Also, something I haven’t seen mentioned; just as injury time started, Bernardo was running into the rags' box, and Fatty caught him in the neck/throat with a forearm.

They didn’t half get away with a lot.

Out of interest what was the crowd noise view from those watching on tv? Inside the ground I thought we were magnificent and the rags were shite but is that how it came over on tv? Also I couldn’t imagine all our fans leaving on the final whistle (thousands of rags actually left before the final whistle as far as I could see) without properly acknowledging our players
Yes you could only hear the city fans :)

The only referee only to ever be influenced by crowd pressure, and that was us who were the victims.

Yesterday's victory felt like justice seeing it was Taylor again. The FA are trying to make him the next Battenburg, what with all these finals he keeps getting only to do like the aforementioned to do such a poor job.
The referee was Tierney, not Taylor.

I'm still buzzing!

To beat them in the F.A. Cup Final alone is fucking brilliant, to beat them to clinch the double is fucking incredible! Get the fuck in!
What a team!

What a start and what a goal by Gundo, but as the game went on i thought we looked rusty, especially first half. We should've won by more really but i'm glad the players got that game in their legs and hopefully we'll have a fully fit side going into next weekend.

I haven't read back, but on TV there was a section of rags on our side of the ground, right next to our bench, how come?
Did we not sell all our tickets? because i have mates who couldn't get them!
Of course we sold our tickets. We could have sold double. The section behind the bench is corporate/sponsors and mixed.

I thought they were Shite to be honest and had an average season. I don’t see much improvement at all. I can’t see any patterns at all. It’s just very basic football. Miles behind us. The scoreline absolutely flattered them.
Agree with you about the "improvement" as I don't see any tactically and let's be honest several teams have had poor seasons. I think next season will be a massive test especially with the demands of Champion's League football.... fingers crossed!

so Many red cnuts still milling around in London today, did my best but just got pissed. What a day it was, now Istanbul!!!

To be fair, most of them live there...
i loved that you ‘Only live round the corner’ chant the City fans were chanting to all the reds still milling around the streets after the game.

doesn't apply to me though as I live in Portugal now ;)

Fastest goal in FA Cup history and it came in the first ever all Manchester final, you literally couldn't write it.

Also, because it was so recent, it's hard to fully appreciate just how iconic that goal will become as time passes. Even more so if we go on to complete the treble as it will forever be associated with a historic season.
Yes, and because there was a significance in that it was the 100th final at Wembley (the second time we've appeared in the 100th final!), it will be remembered as a landmark final.

They're not going to forget this for years, whether they want to or not! Only bad thing (in this case anyway) is it wasn't on Sky, bad in that Sky tend to try and pretend the event never existed if it's on a different channel.

Ah, so that's where they were. We were out in and around Preston and Lancaster and couldn't find a single one. :)

No chance it was the 100th final it only opened 100 years ago and there were years without the FA Cup and then Cardiff.

It’s the 100th anniversary of the first Wembley final.

While I don’t condone supporters throwing objects at players, in fact I am disgusted by such actions, but what the fuck were the rags doing celebrating the successful penalty in front of the City fans?

It was the crassest, most idiotic action that they could have taken.

Just when you think the rags can’t get any stupider, they prove you wrong, time after time.

We’d have had yellow cards for doing that.

After spending the last hour or so catching up on videos and posts about yesterday... I think the magnitude of what we've achieved... even if we don't win the CL... is only just starting to sink in

Can you just imagine 15 years ago if somebody had told you that we were going to win our second league and cup double by beating the rags in the FA Cup Final... you'd have laughed in their faces
