Parade?

If there was 200,000 that would be double what the estimates for our parades are and it would seem like a hell of a lot of people. 1 million people is pure fantasy, would be amazed if there was a quarter of that. Reminds me of this excellent and enlightening photo from Liverpool’s 1 million parade last year…

I can remember when the losing FA cup finalists had a parade and a town hall reception. Think after a domestic double and an appearance in the CL final, a parade and reception is the very least we deserve.
Utd after Southampton defeat springs to mind,we won the League Cup,they got a half hour show on Granada,we got sod all

No idea of numbers but there was a fucking lot of them.

We happened to be on pre arranged all dayer in town and had murders all day, no matter where we went.

There was, not doubting that. But never a million. Wasn’t it a bank holiday or Sunday as well?

I wouldn’t know how anyone could begin to even have an educated guess. Probably just make a big number up and double it.

I’ve got a feeling it might have been on the day after the final, which would have been a Thursday but can’t be sure now. Definitely a working day though.

Liverpool and others have done their CL parades on Sunday.

Be silly if we didn't do it on a Sunday, regardless if it's just for the double.
The game won't finish in Istanbul until nearly midnight local time (10pm our time), no chance they will fly straight back with no sleep, get home at 4-5am and be doing a parade later in the same afternoon.

Can’t remember where I read this. Might even have been on here. But I’ve seen somewhere that it’s going to go down Oxford Road rather than Deansgate due to something or other.
Either roadworks or the new one way bit narrowing the road, I think

If we lose the final I’m not so sure a parade is the best idea.

I know a league and cup double is still a great achievement but if we choke the final the atmosphere is going to be very weird.

Disagree with that mate! Although it would be gut wrenching, winning the league again and adding the FA Cup again is fantastic and would deserve to be celebrated imo. Hopefully that’s not something we need to worry about and can celebrate all 3 though

I understand what your saying and IF we lose the parade would be slightly subdued.

But the winning of a double alone is an incredible achievement which should be celebrated.

I have a friend that works for a company representing city centre businesses who liaises with the council around anything that happens in the city.
She says City have asked for a parade on Monday but stating it won't go ahead if we lose on Saturday, time/location/route to be agreed.

Woah........no parade because we have 'only' won a double????

WTF planet are people on?

Not so long ago we would have been sectioned for even dreaming about silverware......we need to saviour every moment and never take our success and fortune for granted.....because one day it might just be gone again.

Get that fucking bus washed and ready to go!!

Can see it from both points of view, but for me if we lose on Sat night then any parade will be so subdued. Players won't want to be there and fans won't be in the mood for a party. Its the reality of where we are but Saturday night is everything.

Spot on. One of the great achievements in English football, should be celebrated as loudly as we possibly can.

I know they hadn't won the league but Liverpool's players last year looked like they'd rather be anywhere else when they had their parade after the CL final loss.

No issue with no parade if we lose, it's going to feel pretty brutal if we don't win it.

To me this is our greatest ever season. Back In the early seventies I would dream of beating the rags in the FA cup final. I have always wanted us to play a foreign team in the European Cup final, with the national press forced to get behind us . Irrespective of the result on Saturday this has been a fantastic season, don't let the bitter bastards tell you anything different should we lose. We have won the two greatest domestic trophies beating our bitterest rivals in the final, this should be celebrated in style. Don't see how last Saturday will ever be bettered next Saturday just a potential bonus.
