I was travelling to and from Chester on motorway on 2nd June. There was a variable speed limit of 60mph. I was probably doing 70mph on the way there and on the way back. Nothing has arrived in the post re fine.
I then realised when I moved house 4 years ago despite notifying DVLA of my new address, I totally forgot to have my new address changed on my log book. Any potential paperwork will have gone to my old address.

The people who bought my house did forward onto me the proof I sold the car sent by DVLA to my old address. I have asked them if they have had any other letter for me in the past 2 weeks, they have said no.

I am now in a situation where I could end up in court for not responding to any letter sent to me by Cheshire Police even if they were sent to the wrong address.

Should I phone Cheshire Police to ask if I was caught speeding and risk admitting to them that I may have been speeding, or just not do anything?

Is your driving licence and insurance etc up to date. If so they will find you.

And I do 70 down there all the time....

Got done for the first time in my life a few weeks ago 48mph on a 40mph road. Some devious police vehicle parked in a lay by.

I have been driving for nearly 60 years and will not be doing a speed awareness course as I would just lose my temper. It is nothing to do with road safety just the police getting their statistics improved and a money making racket.

Fuck them,

Park the car in a field, torch it and report it stolen. They can't touch you then.

Yes they are all up to date. Just didn't realise I had to fill in change of address on the V5 form as well for the car. Problem I have is if you don't respond within 28 days it escalate to become a court matter.

Even if it went to court (a case you wouldn’t know about given the post issue) by the time you got chased by the fines people you could go back to court and do a stat dec that you didn’t get the paperwork and that’d put you back to square one

I’d call the rozzers though

If I did that would I not be essentially admitting to them that I had been speeding, would they not then be obliged to look into it?

So it's everyones fault apart from you who was the the one actually commiting the offence. Is your surname Johnson by any chance?

Don't be daft I admitted being over the limit, just pointing out my safety record and never previously having received a summons. I defy anbody to tell me they keep strictly to speed limits.

I wouldn't do anything, the cameras were probably turned off, only there as a deterant to the obediant and the guillable. They'll find you if they want you, in the meanwhile have a cup of cocoa at bedtime, you'll sleep easier.

P.S. If they do get you, do the course, it's brilliant but do take a packet of bourbons.
