This is a daft reply… Anyone saying go for FDJ or Mbappe clearly are not thinking right. It’s not about affording him (he has a £200m buy out) but it’s about his wages. FDJ is on something like £600k a week and Mbappe around £1m or so rumour dictates. There’s zero chance City pay those wages when I’m sure certain players have parity clauses in their contracts. It’s just not good business and despite both being fantastic players, both I see causing issues in the team dynamic. Purchase price is irrelevant, it’s the total package and age.

I honestly believe a big part of our sustained success under pep has been the ego free environment he's created. Until haaland our biggest talismans were kdb and Aguero - both of whom are famously low key and humble personalities. You want mbappe knocking on txiki's door every time pep does something he doesn't like? Or leaking to the press that haaland is getting preferential treatment and starting PR wars?

I get that mate, but as you say, it’s not worth the risk. Pep and the club clearly see something (as transfers aren’t based on one opinion), so let’s get him in and further fuel that hunger to win the Premier League next season (the one Kovacic wants).
