At least an argument, thanks. As I have stated before I think Kova is a replacement for the role in the team (minus the wing) for Bernardo, ball retention and circulation, +progressive ball carrying, and high energy pressing, who they have known wanted to leave for 3 years now and Mendes is is "charge" of both PSG and Saudi now so..
He can still fill the Ilkay Gundogan void as well as Bernardo Silva without too much of a drop off. And besides that if the Saudi's want a box office signing then Frenkie de Jong is right up their street.Although Barcelona may come knocking for Bernardo Silva but again they have to cough up if they really want him.

Yes hes very handy to have now, but will not give you much in the final third, at least he hasn't before in his career, not even in Real with their domination (rotation player there though). Whereas Gundo has always excelled there even if it didnt really show up that much in the numbers, but he used to drift into the box in the 2nd wave all the time already in Dortmund. I think a second wave player will still come in. For the wingers I dont think anyone really knows.. not even the sporting leadership. Is Mahrez going.. Bernardo filled 2 roles as everyone knows.

Never thought it. Who was the last player to run down his contract with us and then re-signed? Please don't include Fernandinho as we had an understanding later in his stay here that he would go year to year that was both to his and our liking...
It’s hard to think of many players, for any club that ran down a contract and then re-signed. I’m sure the club did all they could to convince Ilkay, but they knew, like we all knew, he was probably out the door… (the idea that we were caught out, by that or by Mac Allister is laughable and the suggestion that us now scrambling for Riquelme on 3rd Jul, is proof of that, even more so!)

Txiki is caught off guard this window.. Im not convinced. And Riquelme is part of this, I like him as a player though. But I dont think they really expected Gundo to go and is on their heels because of that. Surely Mac Allister etc would have been worked on earlier then. The (obvious) targets are drying up. Bellingham, Szoboslai, Tonali and now Veiga.. even Tielemans really

#1 stupid post I've seen on here.

We have a list of 1, 2, 3. We don't do desperation buys.

Look at when Kompany left.. when Maguire didn't work out.. we didn't panic buy anyone.

When Aguero left and Kane didn't work out.. we didn't panic buy anyone.

Sure we might promote someone internally or go for an opportune 15 million smart buy, but we're not spending millions on players we don't really rate.

Macallister, Tielemans, Viega, Tonali were most likely never on the list!

Why is everyone after Lavia except City.. I know about the buyback clause next year but still. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool all sniffing around is seems.. edit: +ManU as well

Arsenal are ready to make a move for the Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia once the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham United is completed.
Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in Lavia, with Southampton wanting £50 million for the Belgium player.

I guess City saw Rice more as ball carrying progressive player next to Rodri as well as a pure DM and Lavia is not seen as worth it for that role I guess.

everything about this riquelme kid screams waste of money tbh. Obviously we shouldn't entertain anywhere near 30m

He’ll get more game time at those clubs.

Because he's not good enough.

Nobody knows anything…… how on earth have we won so many trophies with current “sporting leadership”
