What was it! £294 million in prize money alone last season?

This is what UEFA has done to football.

The most successful/richest clubs become more successful and richer, so they can buy the best players, and in turn become more successful and richer.
This is so true and the foundations that they created and built upon. Always buying the best players because they had the most money because they won everything and kept on repeating.

It was a long and painful battle but as has been said, we've caught them up and now are streaking away. The very rules they introduced (via UEFA and the PL) are the very rules which are preventing them from getting back into the game. I LOVE IT!!!

We are now in the driving seat and, I must say, doing a fabulous job along the lines of recruitment and retention.

We needed massive investment up front and we had it, that brought us level with them. We now can compete on the level playing field. It was imperative that we had that initial investment without it we would never have been able to establish ourselves and get a decent footing and create fair competition. Now we can and I wouldn't be averse to FFP being structured to enable other teams to establish themselves.... maybe with some kind of repayment (of the initial investment) plan - I'm sure we could manage that.

Let’s not forget, they will start the new season with no shirt sponsor.
the dodgy TeamViewer contract got binned when the TeamViewer shareholders got wind that the deal with the rags was more than their entire profits! I am sure I read somewhere of a link between the Glazers and TeamViewer, related party? Anyway they can start the season without a sponsor or maybe do the Millwall “skint” thing, I think it was Millwall!

I always said them lot was the Leeds model that sunk under Risdale but on steroids. This is proving to be the case.
Who are the latest pay day load company.....?

Wonga? would look good on the shit shirt

Yes, it's not like bunging a doorman an extra fifty quid in a brown envelope, is it?

For the guys we are talking about it would need to be 100k a week to make it worthwhile. Maybe more. And it would have to be in cash, because any form of cheque or bank transfer would leave traces that can be detected by, among others, HMRC.

So this would involve obtaining around a million a week in cash, splitting it between the players (a suitcase each perhaps?) and them taking it away in their cars. I mean, no one would notice, would they? Who does the actual paying out? Khaldoon? Because if it's the equivalent of a wages clerk, that's an obvious security risk. A huge temptation to talk to someone about it.

Then the player gets his £100k home. What does he do with it? It can't be taken down to the bank, as again, the transaction would show. Anyone who pays in huge amounts of cash into a bank at regular intervals had better have a good explanation because someone is going to be asking questions. Heard of the Money Laundering Regulations?

Spend it? 100k a week? Really? You can't even put it on at Belle Vue Dogs these days. Shove it in a cupboard and leave it?

The sheer impracticality is obvious. What happens when someone leaves? Why would Jesus, for example, move to Arsenal and lose his £100k a week in readies? That's without thinking of the obvious legal issues.
@BrianW whilst it's a reasonable argument you haven't thought it through. Your final paragraph asks why would Jesus go to arsenal and lose 100k a week cash. Clearly the answer is because we are still paying him. An Arab man visits his Aunt every week in Sao Paulo and drops the dosh off.

So you mean the greatest / biggest / most famous club in the world has had 7 months to find a new sponsor. And haven't?
So, the logo for TeamViewer is on their shirt for 2 reasons. Firstly to plug a gap / fill a space ( delete as appropriate ) and secondly to make them look a lot less incompetant than they actually are....shirley not.

Are they waiting to have 'Ineos' or 'Qatar Airways'? For now, they could have gone with a blank space or a charity. "Oh, we are the biggest and have so much money, that we don't need sponsors." Yet, they resort to printing a name of a company that doesn't pay them, for the sake of appearance. A bit small time.

They're still getting paid by TeamViewer. They just both agreed that the deal will end when they find a suitable new sponsor rather than in 2026. They're presumably waiting for the takeover to go through first. Either that or no one is willing to even match what TeamViewer have been paying.
