Lord Snooty on GB news last night berating public sector workers saying that productivity has been down since 1997 and the pay rise was enough but productivity must improve, we had this in the fire service, tell me how to do you improve productivity in something we’re you don’t produce something, you can’t make more house fire’s and car crashes for you to attend! How do teachers do more when they are already stretched, apply this to MPs especially twats like hi who I guarantee does fuck all for his constituent.

That will be the MP's on 80 odd grand who turn up when they fancy it - except Dorries who plain doesn't - yet feel the need to get lucrative 2nd jobs presumably by virtue of being an MP and having spare time because you aren't doing that job? Those MP's?

Yep thems the ones, cunts

Agree with you criminals all of them and I feel frustrated it’s a far right cabinet every day there is something new I’ve had enough of them.

I know someone who works in social services and the lack of funding means they can’t help vulnerable babies and children.. She was looking for two second hand, stair baby gates “charity” that’s what the poor are offered now, they used to be provided as a safety issue not any more. Disgraceful government

If you apply the maxim that the mark of civilised a society is the way it treats its most vulnerable citizens then we are regressing in an appalling fashion. Back in 2017 the UN was already refering to the UK as a failing nation in its duties to disabled people and since then the failures have got deeper and broader sucking more and more people in.

You still see loads of individual acts of kindness and compassion but I find it hard to shake the feeling that as a nation we have increasingly allowed our leaders to turn us into a heartless and cruel nation. I don't think that is who we really are as a people but unless we reverse this trend soon and decisively it will absolutely be our fate.

The productivity arguments that these nutters are making are really idiotic when you look at the mess of the public sector and public services. The idea that we can all work harder for the same or less is completely mad. I work predominately with folk in the forces and everyone I speak to says they've never seen the public sector so bad and that's the military which is historically relatively well funded. Virtually all of them are jumping ship to industry which is awash with cash because the government is printing money to build weapons for Ukraine. So no, you must make sure that you reject your payrise because yes it's you buying all those Ferrari's that's causing inflation....

Public services such as transport are on their arse and it's extremely difficult nowadays to get anywhere. I flew into Manchester on Saturday, our flight was an hour late and I had a train home booked. Because the flight was late I missed the booked train so I had to pay for another train ticket but hey-ho at least the train operators get twice the money eh. In Germany you just buy a ticket, it's the same price for the same journey and it doesn't matter which train you get on. This is the madness of our country and how it's not aligned to people's needs, it's aligned to make money first and then those poor operators have to shoulder the burden of actually running the train (or not as is the case nowadays).

I'm actually gobsmacked that the country is growing. When we talk of productivity what's really happening is people are actually over-productive given the circumstances. However that productivity could be 10x better had we not faced these challenges to our living costs and standards.

Our government and the people in charge don't give a shit about people or the productivity implications of what it takes to get them to work or keep them healthy. All they care about is how to get the absolute most out of us for the absolute minimum and the remainder of government policy is how to shaft us for everything we've got.

Just think of this, many people reference austerity and cuts but today none of that is quite relevant, at least Osborne and Cameron were honest about it and they did control inflation and bring borrowing down. This government now however is a different kettle of fish in that it borders on the outright corrupt. UK government spending is at the highest ever but the critical thing is why do we get so little out of it? That tells you all you need to know.

Can you not go around cutting brake cables and moonlighting as dodgy electricians on your days off?

There is that I suppose at least I’d be keeping people in a job

Adding money to the local and national economy too.

Insurance payouts that would have otherwise gone to overseas pension funds will be paid out to mechanics and tradesman. Scrap dealers and dealerships will have an up-turn in business.

Remember, these are the people who are supposed to serve us. Mogg’s saying the opposite, taking us back to Dickensian times where we need to be flogged for not giving are all for minimum wage.

They really do believe that the normal worker is a underclass and only there to benefit themselves.

Why would anybody so rich want to be an MP unless they wanted to shape politics for their own gain?

smearing MP's? What by revealing truths? Embarrassed Mr Brine? Probably a 985 majority should have you doing 100% of your waking hours being an MP

Most public sector work needs a lot of staff as it is -er - providing services directly to the public.

For example, a teacher stands in front of a class of maybe 25-35 people. To make her more 'productive' you increase the class size to 50. Or, you have lessons on TV, and have a teacher who walks about between 3-5 classes, keeping order and answering questions. Is that what you want?

Nursing is similar. There might be an odd role - maybe part of the cleaning function - that could be replaced by robots. But most of it is about human contact and human observation. It would be hard to robotise it, and asking nurses to look after more patients has obvious risks.

On the other hand, I think we have too many MPs and certainly far too many Members of the Lords. But even if you halved their numbers (a bit extreme for the Commons) the savings would be minimal.

It was only in the early 1900s that MPs started to be paid. Prior to that, they did the job, nominally, for nothing.

This demonstrates that there are huge advantages to being an MP, apart from salary, because otherwise, no one would ever have stood for election.

such a clever idea - however when it deters legal migrants from coming here and working who are the ones who pay these fees and are paying taxes it will mean more vacancies in like the NHS and reduce the tax take as they are not here to earn and spend - very astute financial brains are behind this lol - one last throw of the far right dice which were always loaded against them by their own stupid doctrine

Even the African care workers we're recruiting might be put off. "Come and help us in a job few Brits want, and where you'll be exposed to disease more than the general population - and we'll be deducting money from your salary in case you catch something and need treatment yourself."

Sunak is fucked whichever way he turns. I do think he’s trying to drag the Tories out of the gutter but those who still have a massive say in the party are using him for their own means.

For me, Sunak is trying to do a Starmer but in an even more condensed timeline, gradually getting rid of the extremes of the party.
He appointed 30p Lee as deputy chairman of the party.

Fire prevention has been very successful. (Charging lithium batteries while you sleep may change that.) But it's meant firefighter numbers less than half what they were when Buncefield went up. I doubt Hertfordshire FRS could now send 150 firefighters as an initial response as in 2005.

MPs' productivity is at an all-time low, especially among gone-missing Tory MPs.
