I deleted my account almost a year ago. I came off it usually angry about something. You get the most extreme comments whether it’s about football or even world events and at times I couldn’t help but let myself be dragged into the arguments, especially when it was a rival fan spouting complete lies as fact. The app would even purposely highlight tweets it knew I would react to so I decided to call it a day.

You should have a chat to people like @twosips @BillyShears @projectriver etc - there's a way to go about engaging on football/city twitter while keeping your sanity. Only allowing people who follow you to reply, blocking everyone who's a prick (It's a much smaller world than it seems so by the time you've blocked a few dozen people you're cutting off a lot of the arseholes).

I would laugh when people would say social media changes you. In six months Twitter turned me into one of those pack animals who would savage anybody who strayed into your echo chamber with a different opinion to me. I would see people regularly post they wished somebody was dead. Social Media is vile and Twitter is the worst of the lot. I felt happier within a week of cancelling my account.
