If we had broken FFP like the Rags it would have been party time in the media ,a never ending vitriol and no smoke without fire avalanche of bullshit and innuendo.
The Rags fail FFP and its a minor misunderstanding , UEFA representative David Gill confirmed the news.
There will come a time when the rags are cut adrift by the media and left to sink.

The media are going to wake up to the reality that not only have they been backing the wrong horse, they've been flogging it to death too.

That well (cash cow) is running dry.

Deluded Villa

Great post.

They last won the top flight nearly half a century ago in 1981.

Before that it was more than half century ago in 1910, the same year the rags ( who had copied the Manchester name in 1902) and then cleared off out of town where they have dwelled on the outskirts ever since.

Back to deluded Villa, other than their only 2 top flight league wins in the last century, they won a few in the previous century to that when players wore hob nail boots.

Deluded indeed !
What they going to sing at ours now we've took their only song away?

Working in Birmingham this is a point I've often made. Our average attendance was also bigger the year they won the European Cuo (yes, apparently they've won it, who knew!)
Even in their heyday, before World War 1, Villa's attendances were not that good. In 1911, after they had won ten major trophies in 17 seasons, they averaged 22,705. That season City, who had won just one trophy in the same period, and even been relegated a few times, averaged 24,995. Their club is a bit of an ancient myth really.

1980/81: Villa Champions, City 12th and FA Cup Finalists:

Villa Ave: 34,117 Highest 47,998 Lowest 25,673
City Ave: 33,587 Highest 50,114 Lowest 26,141

1981/82: Villa European Champions, City 10th

Villa Ave: 26,780 Highest 41,098 Lowest 18,294
City Ave: 34,063 Highest 52,037 Lowest 24,443

I bet the villains don’t sing a song about that.

But the fee has been widely reported as £105m. Rice is the most expensive English player ever now. Not Grealish. So why not report it that way?
It's only reported that way when the writing on the cheque is in sky blue ink. The Rags went season after season hoovering up players and paying record amounts that were never emblazoned over the sports pages.

No mate. The rags were "strengthening their squad" and "making a statement" when they were spunking the GDP of a small African nation on players, most of them duds. On the other hand City were "ruining football" when they signed players whose transfer value invariably increased with world class coaching and a shed full of medals.

I went on the City tour today and the trophies aren't there*, so that might explain why they're free ;)

*the PL trophy was in the shop, and there were paid photos, but not sure if you just ask and take your own. The CL trophy is apparently on tour, and no idea where the FA Cup is.
I know where the FA Cup isn't......
