Not churlish at all. I'm gobsmacked that this is getting such rave reviews (sorry @GoatersLeftShin).
 
After being rather remiss and only really listening to artists/albums that i already know and love, I felt I should engage more and fully listen.
I did and have to say I loved this suggestion/offering. Songs and an artist that I knew of but never really pushed myself to spend time with....and so thank you to @GoatersLeftShin for pushing me this way.
Closing my eyes and listening I did almost get a feeling or the energy that must have been in the club and so I do have to give it credit for that. It was indeed short and sweet and I wasnt too vexed over sound quality issues due to the energy that was within the album.
Not up there with classics but certainly an album that I will revisit every so often when wanting a pick me up and so a 7.5 from me.

Billy Bragg - Talking with the Taxman About Poetry

For some reason I've always avoided Billy Bragg, think I've just become accustomed to American Folk and never felt i could resonate with homegrown Artists that focus on topics about Unions, Socialism and Thatcher - seen as I was born late 80's , despite my left leanings way and being a 'cockney'.
In some ways some of Dylan's most political protest songs are some of my least favourites.
However, I always liked 'New England' , so it was good to have a real listen to a whole Album and must say was surprised how much it grew on me and it was more than just pro socialism ranting, there's a lot of melody and strong riffs, some great lyrics and overwhelming spirit throughout. 'Levi Stubbs Tears' for example is non political and a powerful track about an abused girlfriend/wife. Enjoyed the catchy 'Wishing the Days Away' and 'Help save the youth of America'
'Ideology' and 'There Is Power in a Union' is probably Bragg at best.
A few skippable tracks and tiresome after a while. Still, a very good pick.

Jerry Lee Lewis - Live at the Star Club, Hamburg

Interesting this, I probably knew more about the Star Club than i did JLL as I'm currently on a Chapter about the Beatles shows at this venue and how this venue set so many Artists and bands on to bigger stardom.
Would love to Quantum Leap back in time to see all these acts - You can hear and feel the energy and euphoria from the crowd and Lewis is just upping the anti all the way through, Energy is probably the most described word for this one and some of the tracks are just pulsating.
I think the recording is awesome considering when it was made. I'll also add to the rave reviews and say i enjoyed this as much as any Live album I've heard - the versions of 'Good Golly Miss Molly', 'Long Tall Sally' 'hound Dog' and of course 'Great Balls Of Fire' are as good as it gets. Great stuff
