Schooldays are the happiest days of your life.

Absolutely hated school wasn’t interested at all was always getting excluded and sent home I left at 16 with very basic qualifications. I’m now 28 earning a good wage as a plumber have nice home go on lots of holidays etc. so any younger guys reading this grades aren’t everything if your willing to work hard and have some common sense you’ll be fine!

Blimey, my Mum worked in an Office right next to the Park Pub for over 30 years, I also dated a girl who lived on Park Road. You’re right, the hand pulled Boddies was a cracking pint, same as the Little Astley and the Wellington in Stalybridge. We run our unofficial supporters club from the Astley now, good beer at cheaply prices, couple who run it, Andy and Cheryl are big Blues.
Wellington did a cracking pint of Boddies but wasn't quite as good as The Pointsman did back in the late 80s, early 90s. When i worked nights at Stamford group I'd climb over the wall and sink half a dozen or so.

I'll PM for a lift mate if it's ok as i won't be driving to games next season with parking restrictions.

No problem pal, used to go in the Pointy as well, can’t believe how small it looks since knocked down. As you say, cracking pint of Boddies hand pumped beer, top class.

Nah i had an absolute blast between 17-24. In my prime just as acid, raves, madchester was all kicking off. Throw in first mates holidays to Ibiza, magaluf, tenerife etc… im surprised im still alive.

Primary - yes. Secondary - WTF ? No thank you. Wasn't bullied at all & didn't know anyone who was thankfully. Done ok post-school in spite of secondary education not because of it (can say the same about my mates too). Teachers mostly ok but some were distinct bullies (thinking the Smiths' Headmaster Ritual here). Couldn't wait to leave but having said that it was such an anti-climax doing that final 'O' level exam & leaving through the side-gate. Was expecting some euphoric moment but never happened that way...

To skip school spending the day in a little bedroom cupboard until Mum left the house, then Gran turned up and the two sat chatting in the kitchen “all day long”
I never tried that again.
I wagged it once at primary school and came home at the right time only to hear the front door knocking. I was at the back door in the back yard.....Mum went to the door and a lad from school asked if I was in. She said he isn't home from school yet. The grassing **** goes "oh he hasn't been in school"

ffs

In the cupboard when I was sure it was home time sneaked downstairs out the front door round the back and in the back door ‘your home early’ yeah they lets us out early.
Primary school you’ve got to be a proper little sleuth I could of been PM if I put as much effort into study

Some good Boddy's pubs back in the day I used to frequent inc The Pointsman. Church Inn in Hyde, Bulls Head & Wello Stalybridge.
ahh the pointsman, used to go in there after the game, bulls head on a friday night, i heard they found a cannabis farm in the bulls head a couple of months ago

We used to scrap down the bottom of Rose hey lane and down near bluebell woods.
I remember Newton Heath fighting against Failsworth, near the football fields on Brookdale Park, Farm St and Paddock Lane School.
The Clayton wars was Newton Heath v Clayton, on the Vale. Fighting over the bridge with Clayton on death hill and Newton Heath in the monkey Park at the top of Scotland Hall Rd.

no droylsden either
I think I may have my wires crossed with the dates. I'm talking about the early '70s.
Droylsen, Failsworth, Clayton & Newton Heath all had gangs and it did get more than
a bit tasty. I recall one Failsworth lad getting killed. I'm FOC, so the '70s were my
teenage years.
