There is no reasonably priced target. The chances of unearthing some player with a 30m fee on his head that can come into this team is incredibly unlikely.

Pep clearly likes the lad, we have money in the bank and more on the way with Laporte and Cancelo expected to go. Clubs around us are strengthening.

Pep will want this done and quickly.
 
Hopefully the club has a lot more sense than some people here wanting to suddenly splurge 100m on someone that that was barely on anyone's radar a week ago. It was 70m, then it became 80+ now we might be touching 100m. They can take a hike. Paqueta was never an intended signing clearly, if he was we wouldn't have wasted time with Rice and instead targeted him from the start.
 
there were rumors he wanted to leave a few months ago and now supposedly he’s agreed a 6 year deal with us. Doesn’t really put hammers in a good position unless they want to keep an unhappy player. Cant see us offering any more. He was decent for hammers but no idea if he can step up a few more levels for us.
 
If you're McAtee and Palmer you're surely looking to move

Why would you stay if we're happy to spend best part of £100mil on a good but not great midfielder who is likely going to sit on the bench most weeks

He has been on Pep's radar since his Flamengo days. Sometimes an opportunity presents itself, or various circumstances mean that one choice is more viable than another. I think this is one of those cases. We didn't get Bellingham or Rice, the likes of Wirtz are unavailable this summer, but it turns out we could take Paqueta from Hammers. So be it. I trust Pep's judgment here.

If we signed every player who played well against us we'd have nearly as many players sitting around and not playing as Chelsea.
