I admittedly don't care much but his being a former City academy player makes me curious about his decision-making. Likely it's down to money which is hard to knock a young player for, I suppose.

None are traditional CDM though wouldnt you say Bernardo KDB Foden Kova etc could all play Paqueta role

Bernardo and Kova are not creative enough and Kevin Foden are not defensive enough to play Paqueta or Gundo role.

Agree none are traditional CDM but kova can do the job sometimes like gundo, would need someone like stones beside him for physical aeriel presence

Funnily enough Declan Rice cost £105m and is a traditional midfielder yet he can only dream of playing like John Stones.

So what is Paqueta ?

Kova is playing the Gundogan role Bernardo has played deep in midfield

We have played a midfield three surely of Rodri and some combination of Gundogan KDB Bernardo and Foden the role I assume Parqueta will play

Caicedo isn't going to come for over £100M to be back-up to Rodri. Other quality DMs aren't going to want to be back-up either.

We'll probably use Stones, Gvardiol, Paqueta or Kovacic when we need to give Rodri a rest.
