Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

It’s the price we are stumping up for him. He’s going to be the second highest transfer in our history
It's just the current market mate we really need to add that attacking creativity now that Gundogan has left.

It's also worth splashing the cash this transfer window considering we won 300m in prize money last season and the incredible money our academy is making at the moment.

We'll be adding another 10m shortly with Lavia off to Chelsea.

Hopefully mate. It’s a nervous apprehension, as it doesn’t fit to the transfer policy that’s served us so well.

It seems more like a Chelsea buy

Yeah I mean there's no two ways about it, the fee is going to be ridiculous. Makes me wonder what the average Prem player will cost in two years time.

But if I spend too long thinking about the money in football I start to despair and that was the same twenty years ago, well before what's happening at the moment. So for now I'm happy with us being the best until the whole thing collapses in on itself.

You could say the same for Ake, Stones & Walker. They were all expensive outlays when we signed them. 7 years at the club & the 50m fees for both Walker & Stones have worked out extremely well.
I'm not sure what you are saying the same as. Personally I am pro Paqueta just acknowledging that he appears to have a rather expensive price tag compared to his actual premier league reputation.

Walker had a very high reputation of solid achievement at Spurs when City signed him , he was one of their best players.

Stones had a reputation of being technically England's most promising young defender and Chelsea had had a large bid turned down the previous season though his actual accomplishments at the time were less. I would agree that Ake had possibly a lesser reputation though not amongst Bournemouth fans who generally considered him their best ever footballer.

how much have they quoted ? do me a favour and tell me the west ham price, not the twitter price though.

flapper on bluemoon, reckon west ham will want 90m for him

all the other flappers run around squawking hes over priced , we should pay x amount because hes not as good as masonmount init (bit of a rap there :) )
Good question mate, personally can see them holding out for more than 90m. They don't need to sell so will put a ridiculous valuation on him

I will reiterate once again, we should have sign Maddison. He is proven quality, meanwhile we are still wondering if Paqueta is just another samba dancer that thinks the football field is a ballroom or something. Some healthy dose of realism is needed when it comes to Paqueta and his ability.
Nice to see you have so many likes on this ... which should tell you something.

Because I’m massively proud of how we’ve done business over the past 7-8 years. Our transfer policy has been unreal.

We’re breaking our own mould
I can see that, but I'm not sure where the mould is now. With Lavia maybe 60mill, which was our mould maybe we need a new mould.

I don't like talk about 'gateway' clubs, etc. But Sullivan is only doing what Levy did with Kane two years ago - valuing a player under contract very highly. There was a huge sense of entitlement about us signing Kane. But it's easier to lambast Spurs than West Ham, seemingly.
you’re mental if you think levy wasn’t completely unreasonable

To be honest neither Maddison or Paqueta are good enough.

The reason we are looking for a player who can cover Rodri is because the last player we bought from relegation fodder turned out to be 'surprisingly' shite.

I actually think we will be pleasantly surprised with Paqueta.

I think there is a top player in there that just needs the right level of coaching and guidance. He has a very interesting skillset.

Julien Laurens who works for ESPN and is a PSG fan thinks it's an incredible signing for City.

He had watched him regularly when he played for Lyon and rates him very highly.

I think the difference here is that all the players you’ve listed were / are exciting young players with the potential to become world class.

Paqueta will be 26 this month, and for the money we are talking about I’d prefer us to be signing a ready made, established world class player.
50 ish caps for Brazil?

Would that have been a free?
I think United paid 20m which sounds relatively cheap but they gave him massive wages and a two year deal. If we had signed him it would've impacted our ability to sign Haaland the following year so I'm glad he chose them.

I can see that, but I'm not sure where the mould is now. With Lavia maybe 60mill, which was our mould maybe we need a new mould.
The club are making a fortune and need to get it spent or the tax man will have it, However I wish they would stop putting my season ticket up but it's not difficult to see why they doing it.

I’ve nothing wrong with the signing, it’s the price we’re paying that makes me nervous about the signing.

All the players listed above were pretty risk free in terms of what we paid for them at the time, and we’re all young

When Lavia is going for £60m for doing naff all this lad for 90m is a snip
