Palmer played a couple sub minutes OUT of position last season and people are using that to justifu him not being good enough.

Whenever he plays RW, he shines, as long as Pep plays him there we have a class talent we need to keep.

He and Doku should be rotating on the wing. With Doku also rotating with Grealish.
If Palmer shone at RW, are you saying Pep doesn't know what he's doing for not playing Palmer more?

Out of Magrez, Bernardo & Foden, who should Palmer have replaced?

Perhaps Palmer got himself wrong when he claimed he didn't do himself justice when given his opportunities last season?

And I take your point, which is that because they have proven themselves at a lesser level, they are worth a punt. Bobb, Gomez and Palmer were probably the best three players in the recent U21 tournament, so unless that is ignored they have proven themselves too, at least enough to be given more play time in their correct positions.
Mate, there's a world of difference between U21 international boy football, & PL & Ligue 1 man football... \0/

How can Palmer shine at RW last season when he barely played there?

The rare times he did he was actually good.

The problem is we had Mahrez and Bernie who were too invaluable and senior, even Foden barely played RW.

But now is the time.

Mahrez is gone, Foden will play centrally, and I bet Bernie will get more central minutes too.

It is RW Palmers time now.

Our subs bench is now starting to look pretty threadbare, probably the weakest we've ever had under Pep. Surgery needed in these last two and a half weeks of the window

Can you point out which games these were & what Palmer did to stand out?

I think that is unfair, but we will have to disagree. You want to buy players unproven at our level, and I want to try players already here. I am not averse to buying those players, but give our own the chance to compete with them properly.

don't take this any other way than intrigue.

i see you asking for the youth players to be given a chance, not just a one off remark but constantly , how often do you watch the youth players, i suspect a lot.

You want me to point out specific times and moments he played RW when I said he barely played there?

Im talking in terms of minutes here and there, enough that I can remember him looking good and recalling why every academy poster said we promoted him.

He played almost exclusively midfield and LW.

He looked out of place, almost like he was playing in positions he never played before...

Anyways, the preseason showing and previous knowledge I have for his game, I know he is suited for this team.

Palmer had his opportunity last season. Are you claiming Pep can't see a player when he sees one?

OK, so neither of us can name a match where Palmer excelled. How many games did Palmer start for City last season?

Yes, a lot, but I also watch a lot of football generally.
I hope I don't give the perspective that I wish for the team to suddenly be filled with academy players. That isn't what I would want, for us nor for them. I am talking about one academy starter in each game, with one substitute. Currently, that would really be one player from Bobb, McAtee, Perrone or Palmer. I know Perrone isn't an academy player, but I am talking about young players elevated to, or new to the first-team squad. In cup games I would start two.

In my opinion, Palmer, Bobb and McAtee are worthy of it. I wouldn't give the opportunity to players below their level. Here we have fans clamouring for a player like Doku, who it is doubtful they have even watched in a live match, rather than give Palmer an extended RW opportunity. For me, that is madness.

Do you have a reading problem?

Please go back and read my messages again if you cannot understand. You need a double take.

25 appearances in the season just gone, to a total of 850 minutes. An average game time of 34 minutes. How many at RW - I don't know. It is also true that he suffered with some personal issues last year.

According to TransferMarket, he started 2 Premier League games in the whole season. In ALL competitions (other than internationals) 7 starts.
