This phase of play thing is a fucking nonsense and just another aspect of the game that has been fucked about with unnecessarily.

Offside is offside,there should be no 'buts' or ambiguity.

@hilts I take your posts on board. Yes we as City fans go OTT about decisions in the rags favour, that is when I look to see what pundits and journalists say. Martin Keown called it a dive, whilst the match was still being played and on the BBC, others also said it was a dive.
The simple fact is they get decisions like that whilst other teams don't.

I never said they don't and it misses the point. It's the sheer weight of nonsense about everything regarding certain clubs . The offside and penaltiy are not shockers by any stretch.

There is an old saying just because you are paranoid it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

I spent a lot of my time avoiding insufferable rags complaining about how refs the fa commentators and other fans are against them.

Enjoy the fact its our time and don't be like a deluded rag.

The first point of contact is when Rashford kicks the ball forward. Therefore offside.

But if you don’t touch the ball or in the line of sight you’re considered to be not interfering. No idea where it says that in LOTG.

I can live with that one, running 40 yards whilst chasing the ball shielding it from a defender is where I have a problem.

This is obviously true but is irrelevant to the point that United have had two (three?) potentially game-winning decisions go their way in two home games: one leading to an apology, and the others leading to the other team to consider an official complaint. Or is that a biased view?

I couldn't get my head around the decisions in the other games. However I'd of wanted those Two decisions yesterday to go our way had we had been in their shoes and every other poster on here would of.

What i do know is this is a decidedly average united team. They dont bother me at all. Scraping past a forest team that will be near the bottom come may, with the help of officials, again, doesnt bode well for them.

Theyll sneak into top 4 again, but so fuckin what. Thats their level now

Even if they could quite easily scrape 6 points of us with a little bit of "help" at the (in)appropriate moments? That still doesn't bother you? What if we lose the title afterwards by 5 points? Still not bothered?

"See what you want to see loons"? That's a bit disrespectful. People are asking "How is that not offside?" That's a reasonable question to ask, given that the person who scored is clearly in an offside position when a United player plays the ball forward - see images.

Instead of answering "Err coz it wasn't", please explain why, under the current Laws of the Game, it wasn't given as offside.

It has already been done so I hope you have the answer you are looking for. As per my previous post offsides will forever and a day bring controversies. Along with contact and handball the powers that be keep looking to sinplify/bring fairness but fail to do so.

Three games in and two teams that will probably be in the relegation scrap have given them the run around. Their away form which was terrible last season continues with them not turning up against Spurs. £170 million spent, not much has improved has it? Ten Hag continues to be the emperors new clothes, he is no better than Solksjaer or Mourinho. The media weirdly give him a free ride.

I agree, he wasn't offside when Rashford crossed the ball. However, he became offside as soon as he touched the ball.

Casemiro was in an onside position when Fernandes passed to him, but I can't find anything in the LOTG that says the first offside shouldn't be penalised. It's all one continuous phase of play. (Not that the LOTG say anything directly about phases of play).

The difference in officiating is palpable.
Imagine going into a game against utd knowing your team is not as good as theirs, and you hope that you will get some rub of the green off the ref, maybe a pen, maybe a sending off for them to even things up.... but, no. It always goes the rags way.
I honestly don't know if I would continue watching football if I had to suffer blatant cheating (which we do) and not win stuff (which we do).

No, I'm still waiting for someone to show me under the LOTG, why Casemiro wasn't penalised for offside. Or for anyone to show me anything official that helps to explain different phases of play. Was everything from the initial free kick to the goal being scored one single phase of play? I think it was.

I'm not scrolling through the bloody fa rules of the game on your behalf I'm sorry to say. Remember laws/rules tend to explain what IS an offence rather than what isn't for obvious reasons.

Anyhow I thought everyone was aware of the current offside rules as they have been commented on for a long fime now by refs, pundits and fans.

I am glad however you are seeking to gain official confirmation after all this time after a decision in the rags favour:-)

You’ve highlighted the laws and asked which bit applied. None do.

That type of goal gets scored countless times each week.

It isn’t offside, however much you think it might be.

He’s hailed as some revolutionary for buying Onana to try and play out from the back by signing a keeper who likes the ball at his feet. City have been doing this since 2016, Liverpool have been doing it for some time as well. Nothing has changed and they haven’t taken a step forward this summer, they will get killed when they have to play every few days when the champions league group stages happen.

Every club’s fans think the officiating is against them. We won the treble and yet still had thousands of pages of bile about refereeing.
