Hahaha, I was just thinking the guy looks like Pab Zabs evil twin yesterday.

Tbh, I think the reaction to just the kiss is overblown but seems like there has been an undercurrent of troublesome behaviour from him for a while and he's made a lot of enemies who are gleefully taking the chance to knife him in the back.

He may or may not have survived one way or another, but from a pure PR perspective surely this was the best route to go, with a heartfelt apology to the player. It'll be a textbook example of how not to do PR.
 
The kiss on the cheeks is a relatively modern thing, when I was a kid everyone stuck the lips on each other, I used to hide when my Cousin’s Aunties visited from Dundee, they were brilliant ladies but fucking huge and a kiss on the lips from them was traumatic:-).

However, I wouldn’t dream of sticking the lips on like Rubiales did, he’s misguided but hardly a rapist, there’s no way out but before Social Media he wouldn’t be hounded in this way, he’s made a very bad judgement call.

It is attitudes like that that women hate , women get touched up and kissed on the tube and in pubs etc , but they are hardly rapists you say , it has to stop , me too needs to be a thing in spain, finally , he forced himself on her by holding her head like he did , that is so wrong and he needs to fuck off , this is not the first time he has been inappropriate and the other men clapping him shows the collective attitude to women in spain

It doesn't help when you get women on radio defending him!

There was one on the world football phone in on 5live this morning who was adamant it wasn't harassment because it was done in a celebratory moment and he didn't grab her tits at the same time.

Fair play to thousands of women who took to the streets in Madrid to show it's not acceptable. Thankfully there's more of them than the apologist on the radio.

I’ve discussed this with 3 women in my family and 2 female neighbours and they’ve all gone down the “right load of bollocks” route.

There are plenty of women who aren’t arsed about it.

I agree Kaz, as I said it’s poor judgement by him, I’ve worked in London and nearly every female in the Office had been touched up on the tube. One of the girls who spoke her mind actually had the misfortune to see a guy choking his chicken, she told him in a very loud voice what a dirty bastard he was.

All I’m saying is it’s a bit OTT but he should be sacked from his €215k a year job, I wouldn’t have thought trying to take this through the courts would end up satisfactory as it would be expensive and he’d have a reasonable chance of beating sexual harassment charges. The fact this is so public would make it difficult to select a jury who would be impartial and his lawyers would argue that. He should apologise unreservedly and sacked, I think that would send a clear message about this type of behaviour.

And that is their right.

As is a woman’s right to be arsed about it, because they have agency just like men, and the power dynamics between men and women—and especially Rubiales, Hermoso, and the rest of the women’s team—have been and continue to be drastically different, leading to dominant and wholly inappropriate behaviour that women have every right to call out as unacceptable.

In this case, the women impacted have said it was wrong, and he has refused to acknowledge that or take responsibility for it.

It doesn’t matter what your or my female family members think about it—what the women involved think about it is all that matters.

For the record, my female family members in Spain are split on it, largely on an age basis, as older women in Spain are conditioned to tolerate all manner of bad behaviour and treatment from men under religious tenets of the woman’s role being to serve the head of the household (as “Jesus was head of the church, so is the man of his family”). For example, my abuela was physically and mentally abused for for 40 years by my alcoholic abuelo, and no matter how much I and a few other young cousins pleaded with her to leave him (and get a divorce), she refused to do so, right up until he committed suicide, leaving her with all manner of nonsense to deal with in his absence. We all had to come together to help her out of the mess he left and in some ways are still doing that even after her passing.
 
Wasn't convinced at first.....while i 100% accept his behaviour was unacceptable/inappropriate......i was giving him the benefit of the doubt through foolishness and over exuberance.

However,having seen his response since the calls for his resignation,and more pertinently his complete lack of self awareness and remorse......i can only conclude that the bloke and his support are complete cunts.

I'm a bit bemused, though, that this has become a national issue, and it's being talked about all over Europe (don't know about the States or Canada, is it being reported in the press there?). It's kind of sad that it's actually overshadowed the Spanish women's fine performance. To me, it now seems disproportionate, but he's brought it on himself to a considerable extent not merely by doing it in the first place, but then by his reaction.
I also find it kind of odd that there a photo of her lifting him up — both feet clearly off the ground, before that. Or has that photo been discredited since, as having been photoshopped in some way?
