Odegaard is the closest in the PL to KDB, but I cannot see them selling to us. Arsenal have been pretty astute with their squad acquisitions under Artetta.

Great you in here now. You struggled against Fulham at the weekend so didn’t expect to see any gooner for awhile. Odegaard is overrated and not fit to be spoken about in the same sentence as KDB. He was chucked out of Madrid for not being good enough. It’s the only reason you got him in the first place. Won’t be happy hanging around a serial loser of a football club in a few years time.

Struggled to be mugged off by greedy football teams in the premier? We don’t need to overpay for second rate players like Rice.

I think Kova, Gvardiol and Doku are all great signings and we've done well getting good fees for our academy players. Umm City stepped away from Paqueta when the whole betting scandal arose. If they really wanted him they would have got him. But you are right; City have a valuation and are prepared to walk away when clubs over value their players. The anti Chelsea if you will. You know what... it's served us pretty damn well this past few years, hasn't it? I think so.
Correct about Odegaard though: no way Arsenal sell him, especially to a rival. Right now anyway.

Maybe we will revisit in a season or two depending upon how both teams fare this season. But I think that we will be all right somehow...;) You guys may or may not be. Let's see what happens.

Give it a 6. Kova is value and utility, 8/10. Josko is a 10/10. Doku, we must wait and see.

But letting the midfield go without neccessary legs is now about to become a three seasons in a row situation, and we've already seen how it can cost us. One MF is required, it's absurd to go without. Two would have been the normal choice for nearly all CL clubs.

7.5 sounds about right to me. If Nunes comes in then dare I say it's a 9/10.

Strange that we didn`t do any business with Girona in this window. They finished 7/8 last season & had a good start for this season. Would be a good option for McAtee, Gomez, Bobb, Doyle or even Palmer.

How could we have got a better price for Laporte if for whatever reason nobody else wanted him?

Kovacic has slotted in well, and whilst he might not score as many as Gundogan he's allowing Rodri to operate in more advanced areas and he's already got a couple as a result. Gvardiol for Laporte is a great addition. He can play a couple of roles, and is more capable of playing in the way Pep now wants us to. Doku gives us an x factor. He's entertain and frustrate in equal measure I'm sure, like most wide players. But he's quick and wants to take people on and we needed someone like that with Mahrez going.

The De Bruyne injury means we could still do with an extra player. I was most excited about the Eze links, as I think he's an excellent player who would thrive for us, but we can cope even if we don't bring someone else in.

Gvardiol is hopefully a nice upgrade on Laporte, Kovacic is a good player but he is most likely no Gundogan, Doku is an exiting prospect but he is probably far from Mahrez level today. I think all in all, the squad would be weaker than it was when the window opened, especially since we also know our best player will miss half the season. Cant give a window when the squad is significantly weaker when the window closes compared to how strong it was when it opened anything higher than a 5, in my opinion.

No idea. The market is crazy. I don't really see the logic in signing Nunes myself. I was impressed when we played Sporting in the CL, he seemed to be comfortable under our press and show some promising skills. But he's not really kicked on. There's a lot of pace, great skill and power but no real end product. We could work with him, but it's a lot of money for another player who doesn't really deliver much in the final third. I'm not sure we need a more defensive player. Paqueta at least has that end product, but we've moved on from him for obvious reasons.

Eze wouldn't do the defensive work or create from deep, but he's excellent in the attacking third and probably "best value" when considering the English inflation.

I'm not doubting the professionalism of the three departed players, but one thing that you have to factor in is the hunger of the new players - their quality isn't a question. Not saying the replacements are better/worse, just think squad mentality comes into it.

Thats true. Which is why I'm giving it a 5 and not a lower rating despite the squad looking significantly weaker in terms of quality short term. With that said, I do believe the Nunes deal will happen which would make this window a 6 or 7 out of 10.
