Ofcourse. This bit is our fault as well, we know Barca is skint and still owe us for Torres. They were never going to pay anything. We put in a ridiculous 60 million option to buy for Bayern, which they never had an intention of triggering. Force clubs to pay up or else loan him out to a mid tier club its not like his value is going to increase now.

T f Barça don’t owe us for Torres, the deal structure was everywhere a few weeks back. City for some reason gave them a full season where they paid nothing, then split the payment in two payments. The last payment was made in June. However, I agree with what you’re saying in that going forward we shouldn’t be helping them out in any way.
Barça will be one of the clubs who are pushing for us to be investigated again no doubt, fuck em all.

Lmao they’re keeping up with payments both clubs agreed for Torres so stop with that narrative

If a deal like that goes through, wouldn’t that make us the pathetic club as we have had all summer to plan a sale.

They’d be getting a 50m player for free for a year.
Its obvious nobody wants him or can afford him.

Why would you sign a player for £50m when you know he wont be sticking around long.

Theres a good bit of criticism in this thread for not being able to sell a guy who obviously has no market. To make this simple, there are only a handful of clubs in world football who can afford to pay the kind of wages he is on for a fullback. He’s burned through a few of them already and is certified toxic. He also may or may not be able to defend. He isn‘t worth anything - getting his salary off the books and letting Barca inherit our problem for a year or two is good enough.

Too many bad vibes! Wouldn't even stick him in the reserves
Surely not! Some suggested it before, but we won't let a negative example of professionalism get to the heads our young hopeful academy lads. We aren't stupid.

He won't be here with Pep around. We'll find a solution.

Hard to take Barcelona seriously as a club these days.
The rags aren’t much better. Seems they’ve offered €2m to take Amrabat on loan, with €1m off if he goes back in January.

With a Knick knack paddy whack, give the dog a bone, they need Ocean Finance on the phone.

Pull the plug on it and stick him on the bench for the season
Saudi window still open for another few weeks. Best scenario for us might be that Barca can't get the deal sanctioned, and he gets an offer to go to SA.

If he was going to have anything like the £8m loan fee, and £25m guaranteed buy at Barca, then you'd think a Saudi club would buy him, even if it means them agreeing to let him leave for £25m next season.

Of course, once they're the only game in town, the Saudi clubs may start getting tougher with deals, but you'd hope that we could find something where everyone is at least a little happy.
