no it goes beyond that. They actually vote for a DA, and that makes them a candidate who aligns to one party or another. And they campaign for election on issues as a result. They should just be prosecutors, on merit, internally promoted. Why, and how, should the administration of justice and the rule of law have any political edges around it at all? Mental place, and no wonder Trump behaves like he does as a result. They dont just enable him, they made him. Its a ludicrous way of running a country. They are jokers
In fact they more typically campaign on their experience levels. But, yes, DAs also campaign on the types of crime they want to prosecute most aggressively, or the kinds of injustice they believe need the most righting.

I do think a lot of folks here are getting carried away with the aggressively stupid anomalies that the death rattle of the GOP as we knew it are bringing about at this particular point in time and considering them the norm, which they haven’t been. I’d point out that Joe Biden has been decidedly — even miraculously — above the fray as he tries to simply run the nation and do right by those he serves which acts as the counterbalance to the GOP’s descent into mindless cultish destruction.

What he said!

I remember reading that both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama enjoyed Marcus Aurelius's Meditations and wondered what Donald made of it.
He thought it was great, maybe the best ever, he takes meditations with him everywhere, he even has lots of different types, all the best types...

Waited till it didn’t matter - ie judge had left.
And only a few minutes before had been contrite and wanting forgiveness.

No one fell for it. In the jury at least
No doubt it will come up at his first parole hearing. And the prosecution could appeal the sentence....

I see Gov. De Santis has refused to meet or be seen with Joe Biden if the president visits Florida to inspect the hurricane damage. Different from when New Jersey was badly hit by storms some years back and Chris Christie put politics aside by welcoming & working with Pres. Obama to get things moving again.

The MAGA morons are frothing at the mouth with their usual cliches about a banana republic and the deep state but they're too stupid to understand that Pezzola and Nordean were sentenced by a Trump appointed judge.

The very action of attempted overthrow and storming of the political building, is one of the definitions that applies to ‘banana republic’.

I vaguely recall posting in the beginning of 2016 that the US with Trump in charge was a banana republic, due to another aspect - the megalomaniac narcissistic dictatorship one.
