Player that everybody loves but you think is overrated

Agree but i still cannot think of any English keeper who is better.
Ramsdale and Pope both far superior. They both have their limitations but Pickford's a painfully mediocre keeper. No coincidence that he's spent the majority of his club career fighting relegation.

Being an ex reds supporters the biggest arguments I have ever had following Liverpool were the ones with fans arguing Hamann was a good player.. sorry never for me in a million years will I ever back down on that one, he made the original water carrier Deschamps look like Maradonna.

Salah. Not as well known before lfc. He's just a £30m player without them. The lfc and utd media elevate their players to higher levels than any other team;
Rashford is on a par with Mbappe?
Bruno = KDB.
De Gae - Best goalie in the world.
TAA best midfielder, nay defender, nay wherever he will play he will be the BEST.

Its all bollocks. And so it is with Salah. Klopp made him good, SA would be paying £170m for shirt sales if they paid £200m for him.

Can't agree with Salah, he was genuinely brilliant for a few years, a few years ago. I think he's on the slide a bit now.

Can't stand his club, but I think he was top notch at one point.

Not to be that guy but both of the players you mentioned have been relegated more recently than Pickford.

Rashford is definitely one. His game is basically just a bit of pace and then blasting the ball as hard as he can at goal. It can be effective on the counter, no doubt, but once his pace goes, he's done for.

Declan Rice, I just don't see it. If he's a £100 player, then I'd want over a billion for Rodri.

That new rags keeper. His passing out from the back is a myth. He just plays it to a full back when he's in 20 yards of space. Every time he tries anything else, it gets cut out because he telegraph's it. The beauty of the likes of Ederson is not just they can pass a ball well, but they know exactly when to time a longer pass to beat the press by releasing it at the perfect moment.

Some left field choices:

Ramsdale - As long as he is goal, Arsenal are winning nothing big. Seriously lacks the primary character of a top goalkeeper - calmness
Rudiger - Plays football like a lunatic stuck in a glass maze. Doesn't have any qualities of a top center half.
Joe Gomez - Can't fathom how much he was hyped up once upon a time. Eli Mangala has better games for City than this guy has for the dippers.
Callum Hudson Odoi - This guy was linked with BAYERN for two windows!! Was constantly mentioned as one of the best young players in England but has been absolute dogshit for every club he has played. Is he still at the circus club??
Entire Rags Team - Can't see anything special about any of them! Stealing a living all of them!
Callum Hudson Odoi signed for Forest for £3m and recently played for their U21s against Harrogate.

He is another who has been flavour of the month for no reason and picked ahead of Foden for England. He holds the record as England’s youngest ever player in a game against Montenegro where Foden didn’t even get on the bench.

And now he’s commanding £3m transfer fees in a Summer where average and unproven players are going for over £100m.

Undoubtedly he was but that was down to Klopp imo, He wasnt much before he joined lfc. And wont be after. Its all just points of view though.

He was no better than Aguero but I get the sense Salah was more celebrated! Just because he was at a media sponsored red club, which always inflates the price.

Countinho? Really worth £150 million? Nah, it was just that everyone in the media told us lfc are brilliant and coutinho was the best in the world. Total bollocks, seen it time and again over the years.

I hate to say it, but.... Balotelli. Yes, I know.

I agree with that.

Two apparent City "legends" that did not deserve it in my eyes, of course just my opinion. Balotelli and van Buyten.

Balotelli - at risk of engaging in a "what have the romans done for us debate" OK he made the pass for Aguero, without which THAT wouldnt have happened. Fair Cop.
However the only other "great games" he had was in the FA Cup Semi v United and Final v Stoke. I would venture he wasnt great in either. He just didnt get sent off, when everyone was expecting him to. I cant give legend status to some loon just because he didnt get sent off. And frankly his petulant antics were just embarrassing.

The other "legend" which riles me is Daniel van Buyten.
Played 5 games for us, of which we won one (granted it was v United) and he got sent off in one of them.
Kept one clean sheet with him in the team, against a shot shy Birmingham City.
Anyone would think he was as good and as part of the furniture at City as Dave Watson the love he gets on here.

I agree on Balotelli, way overrated.

I think the Balotelli shouts are missing the point on this one.

He's loved because of 1 or 2 iconic moments. The pass for the Aguero goal and winding up United in that FA Cup Semi Final as 1 of you have mentioned are enough for him to be loved regardless of ability.

Wouldn't say he's been overrated by anyone though. I'm sure most as a player don't really rate him that highly at all, most know he wasn't good enough.

John Terry. He was obviously a very good defender, position and reading the game, very good, and got a decent number of goals from set pieces. However, he lacked pace and couldn't play out from the back, could only really play as a right sided defender, wasn't versatile. Compare that to the likes of Stones, Ake, Laporte and Dias, who can do all the things Terry can do, plus more. He also wasn't the best English defender of his generation, Ferdinand and Campbell were both better, in fact that was England's best defensive partnership at the time. I think King would have been better if it hadn't been for his injuries. Then there's the off field issues...

Jamie Carragher. Similar reasons to Terry, but wasn't as good as him.

David Bentley. Hailed as the next best thing, aside from a decent spell at Blackburn, did nothing of any note at Spurs and never made it at Arsenal.

Salah. Not as well known before lfc. He's just a £30m player without them. The lfc and utd media elevate their players to higher levels than any other team;
Honestly disagree about Salah. He consistently puts up incredible numbers for Liverpool, it's not that easy to be this consistent, it'd be like saying Haaland would be scoring less than 10 a season without his support crew.

Salah's only really poor period was Chelsea, where Mourinho couldn't fit him in well. He did well for Roma after that,, and I remember he was on the 'young prospect' radar during his time at Basel, with some media outlets calling him the 'Egyptian Messi', so he wasn't really a virtual unknown.

I hate the media kissing LFC's bumhole too but personally, I can't deny Salah's brilliance.

One of the most overrated PL 'star players' I've seen. Guy was just a long shot merchant. Robben without the football intelligence.

Terry was very good at playing passes out of defence with either foot and he predominantly played as a left centre back.

Fuck Rudiger. If PL refs had eyes, he'd be racking up red cards. Defends with elbows and bear hugs.

I remember the amount of pressure Sarri had from Chelsea fans from not playing CHO. They truly believed CHO was going to be some 'savior' of Chelsea. Only Tuchel played him with some regularity, but even he once subbed CHO off before half-time. He now ply his trade for Forest, having being sold for £3 million.
