HS2 - Birmingham to Manchester scrapped.

After all the money spent in the southeast does it come as a surprise to anyone the the money has run out. Levelling up bollock I bet this was just trotted out to keep the plebs in the north quiet on the promise of future money. Still think there was no fucking intent to spend in the north. Fuck London the Home Counties and the Tory wankers.

£18 billion plus just on crossrail. Bastards

That’s just the tip of the financial iceberg
The twats have spent in London while we get fuck all in the north.

Having just got back from Italy last week and using their train system, ours is a fecking joke.

The train service in Italy is second to none. I’m embarrassed with ours. In Italy, All double deckers, all on time, all spotless, all electric, 8/10 carriages every train, all being used very well by the general public, every 12 mins. All for 8 euros return (equivalent distance to what I travelled on the way home from from Manchester airport but return too). And they have the metro. What do we get? Transpennine. Late out of the airport station due to them apparently. Late out of Piccadilly. No explanation. . Lucky if there’s 3 carriages. All diesel. £7.60 one way. Lucky to find a bin! Oh and they’re getting rid of all the staff at stations.

Years of under investment and yes I blame this shit government. Not exclusive to this lot but since Thatcher got in. It’s a fucking joke.

Rant over

Anyone who ever believed this was for anyone other than Oliver and Tarquin to get into the office a bit quicker was kidding themselves.

Levelling up my arse!

Don’t they subsidise their fares by owning some of our contracts and charging us the earth?

Yes, but the Italians had Mussolini/Il Duce to ensure that the trains ran on time.

After the first home game of the season against Newcastle, the Chester train which calls at Warrington was running for once. 2 carriages! Shite. They are a disgrace.

I’ve just been having a think. I’ve been to a number of European countries over the past 10 years. Every single country’s transport system has impressed me. Clean, reliable and noticeably cheaper than ours.

There is absolutely no reason why we can’t have a similar system. Political choices are the reason we are where we are.

Great Britain? Yeah right.

German trains are great.

As are French, Italian, Swiss and just about every other country in Europe. Steam trains were phased out in the UK in the late 1960s and 60 odd years later half the network is still not electrified. Absolute joke the way we run our railways.

Everything is being overpaid for. But generally if you CPO a piece of land the landowner only gets 110% of its value. And the valuation is provided by three independent valuers and an average taken. That's my understanding
Ok, thanks, didn’t know that detail. Even that being the case, property values, especially in these kind of rural and semi rural areas the track is going through, even at 110%, are an absolutely enormous cost, what with housing prices in the UK…
