West Ham United (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

We got to embrace the chaos in our game. Seriously the game was thrilling watch and always felt like we had it in our locker to make something happen despite the misses

I feel Fulham’s first half game was by design with chaos in our game. It was shock to the system for fans because we are. It used to it but it seems like it is by design if anything. Pep slowly letting go of control and we are different team all together. The football is exciting!
I think there is a balance to be struck. I don't mind adding a bit of chaos in parts of the game but we need to then tighten the control elsewhere. As fun as yesterday was their first goal kills you dead in the latter stages of the CL. Gives Pep plenty to work with though, and if we can get the balance right we can add to our game.

I can't believe that we have added another string or two to our now, and bedded a bunch of young exciting players in, the season after a treble.

I agree with nearly everything but I think you underestimate the performance - we still had 15 shots on target and getting on for 30 shots overall, and if their goalie hadn't had a worldy, we'd have won by 5 or 6. That's the first time this season we've had so many chances, and it was away against a difficult, unbeaten team. Couldn't have asked for much more, performance-wise.
And West Ham weren't exactly poor either. When the dust settles this season I think they'll be in and around the European places playing some of the best counter attacking football in Europe.

3 points from an away game where we were far from our best, versus a team that have started brilliantly and confidence is an all time high is not to be sniffed at.

15 points from 5 games while missing key players, playing in 2nd gear, with a few square pegs, and bedding new recruits into our system and style........awesome stuff!

I take you back to the Bernabeu last spring.

Given that Grealish often struggles to beat the first man with his shots I’d love to see him try RW but probably Doku goes to the right
I still think Grealish could play central just behind the striker(s). He just doesn't lose the ball and the cheap fouls he gets off opponent donkeys would create a further 6-10 shots per game.

Well I suppose it needs the qualifier of "has the potential to", but a lose touch leading to a counter attack goal when our defence isn't set is something I am sure we wall want to cut out of our game.
Of course; no one wants to go behind, in any game. It was a sloppy goal, definitely. But I have faith in the mentality of this group of players.

I see the Dark Arts agenda is coming to the fore again to detract from this amazing team. Gayle was on about it a lot yesterday and I've seen it mentioned on a West Ham YouTube fan channel this morning. Funny how when their own team does it against us they're become blind. Doesn't help when Madley plays advantage but then forgets to go back a yellow card the offender - they had 3 instances of this in the second half alone.

One of them was calling our fans shit yesterday and would rather do it the ‘Brighton’ way.

If we are investigating dark arts I want that very suspicious looking yellow Lucas Paquetá got in the closing minutes had a look at. ;)

Great performance, so many chances created against a packed Moyes defence, fantastic performance from Duko, everyone contributed including a useful cameo from Nunes (thought he did well). Only issue for me was getting into the stadium, we were sent one way but when we got to that entrance we were told no away fans, had to then walk a hell of a long way round, then a big queue to get in, frisked twice and then queue again, frisked again, all very 1980’s. However that was a fantastic win

Lol how the fuck has Toby bloom suddenly got this reputation for making money the right way. The fact a professional gambler owns a football club should ring alarm bells but he's lauded by all quarters

It wasn't great, Doku lost the ball and didn't really make an effort to recover, and Kyle was just jogging back allowing Ward-Prowse to get away from him, the cross was excellent though took out both CB's.
Walker is my culprit for their goal.
He had everything in front of him and could see what was happening. He needed to turn on the burners a lot sooner. As soon as Doku lost it.
He looks like he's ball watching.

Ist half they played with a back 11
Yes, but that works for them. Just look at their win at Brighton, 22% possession, 12 goal attempts and win 3-1. Not many teams will win at Brighton this season. They are a definite threat from set pieces particularly now they have got Ward-Prowse. That’s where they troubled us most yesterday.
