Player that everybody loves but you think is overrated

Nope… never understood the hype, same with Hudson Odoi
Nah, there was a player there with Hudson-Odoi, but he had a few bad injuries that stopped him getting a good run. Could still do it possibly. Thought about saying this before he scored against Burnley and I would have looked a bit smarter if I had...! Never mind...

Leftarse-Cheek on the other hand, is shite.

Was a good goal that to be fair

Cloughie was without doubt a much better judge of a player than me, as was Bobby Robson
Can’t be denied though that Shilton was still being picked for England solely on reputation for his last decade. He was an utter embarrassment in 1990
Butcher was a pure ‘pashun’ merchant and cheerleader. A one dimensional, snail paced thug
His biggest achievement in an England shirt was cutting his head and playing on
That we now have defenders like Stones rather than Butcher is down to Pep teaching England how to play football
That Maguire is still involved is also embarrassing and a hangover from the Butcher days
Do you not remember Alan Hansen? A cultured central defender years before his time.

The so called golden era in the Premier league 2000-2010. United, arsenal, Chelsea. Rooney, Drogba, viera and all those player type. The ones that are now pundits and keep referring to how good it was back then.
I watch matches back on sky from back then and honestly these so called great teams and players can hardly put 5-6 passes together. Loads of just hitting the ball forward and seeing what happens. Defending was awful at times, but pundits will bang on about art of defending is lost.
If these pundits/legends got analysed as much as they do now they would not be considered as legends.
Basically saying football and players back then are not as good as they are today.

Going back a bit, I never understood why the late Ray Wilkins got 84 England caps.
Apparently he was a decent bloke but I never saw him as more than an unspectacular and Ok player.
He’s one player I hated.

He went to Italy and came back completely immersed in the Italian style of football.

Great when he was getting dull draws with Utd. Not as much when you wanted to see England win.

King of the sideways passes.

Don't think this qualifies but I still don't get the hype around Enzo Fernandez.

Perfectly happy to accept that I'm wrong because there are that many people saying how good he is but every time I've watched him at club or international level he's just looked like a serviceable top flight player. And I include his World Cup performances in that.

I know it's difficult to perform in this dysfunctional Chelsea team but people talk about him like he's the one shining light in it and I don't get why.

Enzo is fairly solid. He's just not worthy of the hype or, certainly, the transfer fee. He pales in comparison to Rodri, although most players do.

Agreed. The praise lumped on him is far more than he deserves. He’s supposed to be the heartbeat of his team, zipping the ball about. If he is a midfield controller, he’s crap at it.

Chelsea have won 7 matches since he arrived. Two of which were against Wimbledon and Luton at home.
