There was an interesting article a while back from a guy working high up in AI. He said not to worry - there wouldn't be any kind of war like in Terminator. The AI would quickly run the numbers and work out that's just a pain.

Instead it would spend another five minutes, and work out how to kill us all at once with minimal fuss :)
