The Daily United.

Newcastle's defeat is the main headline. City's win is a small side article below it.
I too hate our sports media, but to be fair, City beating YBB is less exciting than the Geordies getting beat at home by their first real CL opposition. More so given there were claims that NUFC would win the ECL easily, less than two weeks ago, following their "perennial" win v PSG.

To be fair Shearer has a point we had a scatter gun transfer policy back in 2009 , the problem is Shearer should have referenced our superb transfer dealings since Pep arrived, if you work out our spend against trophies won we must have the best ratio and value for money in europe , our squad might have cost nearly a billion but its worth far more on the current transfer market, what price Haaland ? £250m-£300m minimum when he cost "only" £50m , its a no brainer.

Think we were a bit scatter gun until we got the Txiki in

I wish you'd keep your reply in where I made my statement which wasn't the media thread but the Bobby Charlton one, then I could find it easier. I had to go back and my rather heated post/reply was not to you but to some stiff fingers idiot or somebody.

I didn't say no club chants offensive words occasionally but the rags do it consistently. That nick nack paddy whack song is their main song and they sing it frequently every game. In fact I hardly hear them singing anything else.

The rags and their fans are the worst in the country, well okay on a par with the scouse scumbags, two cheeks of the same arse. You won't find an argument from me in respecting Bobby Charlton but the rags, never.
I'm just surprised the commentary doesn't go silent while the mibs belt out a pre match Nik Nack, as they do with the world famous YAWN anthem at the coach wreckers stadium.

Shearer on 5 live just now:-
"They have done things the right way here at Newcastle. They have been very shrewd in the transfer market, unlike Manchester City."

WTAF!
If City haven't been shrewd in the market what does that say about the red shirts, and I wonder what part of City sticking to their valuation of a player and all the trophies won since our takeover makes Newcastle shrewder than City? He should button it until the barcodes actually win something.

He's a thick Geordie prick which is why he ended up with one trophy instead of a basket full. I'll give him credit for turning the rags down but it wasn't the wisest move. Like his career, when Newcastle have won half the total of trophies we have he can start saying they've spent wisely, until then he'd be better off keeping his trap shut.
I've heard him say on a podcast that although the rags were sniffing around while he was at Blackburn, they never actually made a bid for him. So either he or the media are telling porkies.

It seems this was true. The rags had apparently agreed a fee with Blackburn, but the bank would not allow them to borrow another £3.4M on top of the existng debt.

I see the BBC are reporting that we have found two of the individuals who were doing the chanting about Charlton's death. Amazing that we can find two individuals within 5 days isn't it? I wonder where the individuals who injured the young girl and the ones who attacked our coach are?

"Manchester City have released a statement regarding the fans who were heard singing offensive chants following the death of Sir Bobby Charlton at the weekend.

“Manchester City can confirm that two minors have been identified in connection with the vile chanting heard at the Etihad Stadium during half-time of last weekend’s fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.

"The individuals in question have subsequently been suspended from attending all home or away fixtures and their details have been shared with Greater Manchester Police who are investigating the matter.

"Following the conclusion of Greater Manchester Police’s ongoing investigation, the individuals will be subject to the Club’s official sanctions and bans process.”"
