Advice needed re possible speeding ticket

Fair enough. There must be some leeway as you see cars go past you when doing 70 in smart motorway zones and they don’t get flashed.

I got done once in 2003 when a mobile camera got me doing 56mph in a 50mph motorway roadworks zone. Had to take the points.

Got done in 2016 at the lights near city, again just over the 10% and did a speed awareness course.

Anybody who says they haven’t sped isn’t being truthful. Cruise control is great for smart motorways.

Speed doesn’t kill, lack of distance between you and the car in front does.

Tailgaiting at 70mph on a motorway is far more dangerous than doing say 90mph with sufficient distance for you to react in time.
That may be true, but it’s almost impossible to keep sufficient distances on our motorways, do that and somebody will move into the gap you’ve left.

Did one about 10 years ago, doing 36 in a 30 at 2 in the morning. The 'course' lasted 4 1/2 fucking hours, full of middle aged folk going marginally over the limit, kept my mouth shut and got signed off. It's literally all about the money, no discretion like there used to be.
If it was all about the money, it'd be more cost effective to fine you and register points on your licence

This isn’t a trick question. But in normal conditions, how far do you reckon sufficient distance is for you to react at 90mph?

Fair question and only one that could answer with what I perceive to be enough when travelling at that speed.

What I will say though, is that my distance seems to be far more conservative than most other drivers these days.

Whether it is enough, I don’t know as I’ve been fortunate enough never to have tested it at anything like that speed.

Holiday Inn express Debdale Park in January for my next re education, I'm looking forward to it immensely cheaper than the fine and no points plus afternoon off what's not to like.

Just did this course there 2 weeks ago, I actually picked up a few good driving tips which I've started using.

Just make sure your not a minute late or act like a complete cock with the 2 instructors or they will boot you out. Just answer a few questions and look interested and you'll pass.

It's only £10 less than the fine but it's not getting any points that's the bonus as it would affect your insurance premiums for next 5 years.

Also make sure you register your vehicle with the hotel on arrival for free parking.

I was anxious about going but it really isn't anything to worry about, there's about 15 people on each course.

Ok so I’ve just paid for my course which I’m doing at home and it’s on zoom, so ive just downloaded it on my iPad and followed the instruction. So I go to put into the calendar and the time needed to complete the course 3 hrs and it says I can only have 40mins what the fuck do I do now, only sensible answers cos I know what your all like.

Thought I’d jump on the back of this thread…
My daughter has been done twice within an hour for speeding by a mobile going to and from a venue. Any experts think she has any grounds to appeal one or is she up the creek?

Sounds like the latter. Just being nosey here, but on what grounds do you think she could appeal? By the way; twice? Within an hour? Once can be classed as unlucky. Twice? Hmm.
