PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

What if the Premier League has a whistleblower or a disgruntled employee who had first-hand experience with the alleged fraudulent accounting....?

Then we are totally fucked beyond repair. It would surely mean jail time for our top executives.
Your missing the point, forget the Prems kangaroo court for the moment , Fraud is a criminal offence and if the Prem have evidence or suspicion of fraud then by law they have to report their evidence or suspicions to the relevant authorities ie. The police , inland revenue etc it then becomes a criminal investigation NOT a prem league investigation, The prem have not reported any such evidence or suspicions to the relevant authorities in the time since the takeover, and in this time period the Inland revenue have been completely satisfied with our accounts. We use some of the worlds best accountants who have their reputation on the line in this case as well ,because if they are seen to be auditing the accounts falsely then they are going to be criminally investigated as well . Then we have the Sponsors of City ,some big international companies with global reputations to uphold they would be investigated as well. Do you start to see the problem the Prem have in their accusations ? our two main men Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon have worldwide reputations to uphold they are responsible for Billions and billions of monetary deals worldwide they are not going to jeopardise their reputations with heads of state and big companies by acting like complete chancers . The Prem are going to have to prove the case against the backdrop of all this global activity and a a Royal of a Sovereign state as well, because lets not forget who Sheikh Mansour is and who he represents. He just happens to be our private owner as well . Would he really allow a reputation to be blown apart because his footy team decided to save a bit of cash and cooked the books NO . The Prem have to prove the case against this background not a chance they can.

That’s no different to me going around saying that Eamon Homes is a monkey eating lettuce with tentacles as fingers. It’s complete factless allegations and unless I could prove the above, then there’s nothing to answer. Why haven’t City gone and asked for proof and a hearing on said 115 alleged offences so it can be played out in court etc?

That’s the part that baffles me. Nothing is happening

It's already been partly in court with the whole letting the general public know.

So things are happening.

The Prem want to keep this all in house with their Kangaroo court and officials who support red teams , but it cant, and wont be that way. They are accusing some very big political powerful people of fraud on a grand scale. The Prem see it as a football matter the people accused wont. Are the prem so thick and stupid that they cant see the ramifications of their actions ? This will go beyond football ,the Sheikh and/or Khaldoon only have to move some contracts around and take some away from the government give them to other countries, and Sunak will make this his number one priority, because he cant afford the country losing investment at a time when he needs as much funds in the country to try and buy votes in a looming election .
I said on here months ago if government's aren't involved they will be if we're found guilty.
You have to be very naive or very stupid to believe otherwise.
World leaders are involved, 10's of billions pound investment are at stake.
Political unrest at stake by accusing an active member of state and royal family member of fraud.
I'm sure City have been quite happy to let it run it's course because deep down we know we're innocent of what we're being accused of.
However if we feel any possible charges are unjust, other than non cooperation, I fully expect us to go nuclear.
"We've taken a pinch, we won't be taking another one"
The premier league is a big powerful organisation within football, HRH and Khaldoon are big powerful people around the world.
The pen is mightier than the sword, but Sheik Mansour's phonebook is mightier than both : )

I know this may sound like a kamikaze approach but still…

Club said they have irrefutable evidence. Why not publish it on the City website? No need to wait, get the info out there. Show the payments and explanations then watch the fallout. Hit back against the media. I am not saying give the sensitive info that would aid our rivals but just the simple payment structure and the explanation.

We are losing the hearts and minds battle ground anyway.
But the battle isn’t over yet to be fair. It’s very frustrating at the moment but we have to hold our nerve.

I'd say that you're thick to a certain extent, if you're commenting on something complex which you know you have little knowledge about.

I wouldn't try and diagnose a car which has broken down, as I'm an Accountant.
Me? Or those expressing their views on the radio :) :)

WTF are you talking about? That would make it a criminal offense that would have already been presented. BTW, disgruntled employees, if there were one, are easily discredited by the very fact that they could or would say anything to exact some measure of damage. Being disgruntled amounts to jack shit. There are literally millions of disgruntled employees and former employees all over this world as we speak. That doesn't mean one can make shit up. As far as a whistleblower how would that explain the length of time it's taking for the PL to move forward with an outcome?

Either you're beyond a paranoid, pessimistic Blue or a fucking "disgruntled" Red POS...which is it?...

Not many educated footballers ever. Less so nowadays. Think Paul power, Steve highway got degrees before committing fully
I’m not suggesting they are unintelligent - just uninformed & therefore should not be commenting on something so serious

BDO are City’s auditors; not their accountants.

City have their own in-house Finance function, which over the year as will have had a number of qualified accountants working there and who will be highly professional people who would not go anywhere near accounting fraudulently or falsely. It is almost inconceivable that not one of those would have blown the whistle if something illegal had taken place.

BDO do not check every transactions and auditors certainly do miss things but they will have checked in detail all major sponsorship deals / transactions.

HMRC’s interest in City will largely be focused on their VAT return because they won’t have expected to get any corporation tax out of City due to accumulated losses from the past. They would also be far more concerNed with understatement of profit than overstatement: at the end of the day, they just want to collect tax so the more income we disclose from Etihad etc, the better…

If Mansour has been funding sponsorships, that would happen outside of the country in the books of companies that the Premier League has no access to or right of access to. How the fuck are they going to prove that happened?
They can’t, hence this balance of probability malarkey.

I have no inside knowledge and as much hard evidence as the cunts condemning us in the media, namely fuck all.

My strong suspicion that there is no such evidence is based on the absence of any particulars whatsoever in the public domain when the PL’s default mode is to leak like a fucking sieve, and the fact that the useless cunts couldn’t even get the charges right in the first instance.

If they had the body of evidence you suspect they might then I think it’s virtually impossible that there wouldn’t be more details in the public domain, and moreover that they would have framed the charges around that evidence in a considered and properly particularised fashion.

I believe the absence of any particulars makes my supposition far more likely than yours. If the PL had this evidence it’s inconceivable we wouldn’t have heard more about it. Perfectly stands to reason.
Absolutely spot on !

Nobody knows anything. People set out their stall and post accordingly.

If you hate City, it’s because we’re dragging it out and if you love City, it’s because we have so much evidence to defend ourselves that it’s bound to take ages.

It‘s highly unlikely we will hear any thy thing until the verdict is made.

In the meantime, there’ll be lots of noise on social media without substance. It’s a useful deflection and copium for fans of clubs that don’t win anymore.
100% this, no one outside of the inner circle of the club and the PL know what is going on, so are speculating and basically wasting their time and effort.

Sit tight and trust our execs and lawyers, if we have clear and irrefutable evidence we have no worries, but if that evidence is wrong we are in deep shit and probably rightly so.

We either come out of this free and innocent or severely tainted and probably looking for a new board and manager.

But the result is a long way off, so time to relax.

This talk of fraudulent accounting needs knocking on the head. City are audited by a reputable firm of auditors, not some little cowboy outfit.

The auditors know what damage could be done to their reputation if City were found guilty of certain charges. They are likely to have contributors to City’s defence and may have gone back to double check some of their prior work. I would also expect them to have resigned from their position if they had doubts about City’s honesty etc but they have remained in place.
The issue is auditors can only act on the information supplied, which we attest is a true & accurate reflection.

Having said that, City would be blummin stupid to commit overt financial fraud in the UK, unlike ManUre who reregistered their company in a tax haven.

Again, this comes down to sovereign law & the rules of a private members club.

Flushing the loo after a dump might be a club rule, but it's not UK Law. That's as far as I can see this going.

“Come out of this free and innocent” that’s wishful thinking.

Innocent but severely tainted would be my guess.
