PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Not taking Burnham's side, but may him being a scouser will be well aware of the abuse he would receive from the feral fuckers that are scousers.

Well he should of thought of that before taking the gig like most would.

For instance would you want to be the Mayor of Liverpool?

I must have been out of the country too long but who the fuck voted for him & which useless **** was second.

By sharing the link you've given them what they want - more clicks, more engagement.

Just ignore them.
Yeah I know. It's all the same shite every day but I just wanted to show that BM was being used for their "study" and wanted folks on here to know that and to take it on board.
I could have just mentioned it I suppose without sharing the actual link...;)

From our "friends" at RTE today - apologies if already posted:

https://www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2023/1127/1418668-manchester-city-fans-sportswashing/

Well I guess BM is famous now: we are linked in this article. Apparently for this "study", they wanted to see how the average City fan was able to justify our stance about our (brilliant) ownership. Warning, there are links to Delooney and David Conn in here also.

So I made the mistake of reading that nonsense. For an opinion piece that laments the lack of scholarly research into the topic of sportswashing, it certainly doesn't add much to the debate. Starting off with a ridiculous assumption as a conclusion (that City fans have become proxy defenders of the UAE government and the Abu Dhabi Royal family) is never a good look. It's a sort of a simplistic rehash of the nonsense that has been floating around for years.

So let’s have a look at the evidence……

Prior to 2008 no-one gave a flying fuck about Abu Dhabi
At the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix no one gave a fuck about Abu Dhabi, nor the golf, cricket, or business.

But the whole idea is that an Emirate that had never really been criticised bought a club in the premier league but only after carefully considering a club whose fans would defend them.

So the club with no fans were the reason they bought them because those “no fans” would defend the emirate that had “no criticism”.

Fucking genius…….

Vladimir Putin could stand as the Labour candidate and would easily be elected

UAE approached to invest in Sizewell C nuclear power plant

A United Arab Emirates investor has been approached to take a stake in the Sizewell C nuclear power plant project in Suffolk, it has emerged.

Ministers are searching for new investors in the project, which could cost between £20bn and £44bn, after removing the Chinese state-owned CGN last year due to security concerns over UK infrastructure amid poor Anglo-Sino relations.

The Times reported on Monday that the UK government had lined up Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi fund run by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the owner of Manchester City football club, to back the energy project, with a decision due early next year.

However, a source close to Mubadala denied the fund was interested in Sizewell but said other UAE entities were interested. A separate source said that Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, which is owned by Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund ADQ, could be a good fit for the project.

The UAE interest comes against the backdrop of Westminster tensions over a separate Emirati deal. Last week, RedBird IMI – a joint-venture between America’s Redbird Capital and International Media Investments, an Abu Dhabi investor also backed by Mansour – announced a deal to take control of the Telegraph group. The government has indicated it will launch a public interest investigation into the newspaper deal.

The Sizewell C plant aims to generate enough energy to power 6m homes. It is backed by France’s EDF and the UK government, which has spent nearly £100m buying CGN out of the project. CGN had held a 20% stake.

Rishi Sunak hosted Mubadala’s Khaldoon Al Mubarak at a meeting of global business leaders at Hampton Court, south-west London, on Monday as he attempts to attract foreign investment to the UK.

By the way Khaldoon is also chairman of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation.
Great stuff - means he can fire off a few nukes at the stadiums of the red-shirt clubs and Tottenham when all this is done and dusted!

Edit: I see I'm a bit late to the party. Where's that Titanic pic? ;)

Breakfast on BBC Sportsnews. European night. Great. But all the BBC Breakfast people are interested in are the teams at the bottom of their group?? No mention of the current holders or leaders in their group Manchester City?? Disgraceful.
I just watched that so I double checked to see if our game is really tonight.

The shame is that there are interesting angles which could be explored in a scholarly fashion. For example: Is the Mansour investment in Manchester City sportswashing? To what extent do the fans of Manchester City protect the club's owners from criticism? How did the Mansour investment in Manchester City change the football landscape? How do we place the Mansour investment in Manchester City within previous and subsequent billionaire owner acquisitions and the previous 50 years of football ownership?

Each of these would be interesting as long as they don't start with an assumption as a conclusion: Mansour is sportswashing; his investment was bad for football; City fans are AD proxies, etc etc.....

Maybe we should start a Bluemoon University to write some of these scholarly articles. :)

Edited to actually include a comment :) Sorry about that.

BBC is fucking scum head to toe. Did you see that news report about the U.A.E last night? Total fucking hatchet job, making out like making business deals at a global convention is a war crime.

Its getting to the point where I don't see how you can pay that license fee and call yourself a City fan.

Selling oil at a convention designed to reduce it's use isn't a war crime but it isn't a great look.
Your surely not suggesting they ran the story purely because City have an association with the UAE?
