They should have a duty to appoint the best football experts in the business, but they don't. That's the shit reality. Ironically, they appoint those who are going to aggravate the masses and get them talking, because it's all about "engagement" for them in the 21st Century. Before women were introduced to their current roles it was dominated by men and the vast majority of them were thick as pig shit and didn't know their arse from their elbow. The Sky Sports panel were no better than some modern female counterparts. Paul Merson is a classic example. He's awful but I just don't listen to him; I can still enjoy the game. Crap punditry is inconsequential if I can still watch Haaland bang in a hattrick live.

And you're right, Barton is a degenerate and its unsurprising he of all people started this.

Quick edit: if they were going to appoint the best experts they'd appoint journalists; at the very least they're erudite and can engage in cogent arguments. But they don't.

17(ish) new pages in the last few days on someone who is, imho, a stain on football.
Look at the antics he was involved with whilst playing for our club.
How he got management jobs is beyond comprehension. The fact his views are still considered to reflect anyone else's opinion is bizarre.

Agree with all this. I'd add that the amount the game has moved on in the last 8 years means that loads of players who retired around that time don't actually have much of a clue what they're going on about when talking about the current game.

About Barton... I stuck up for him when Tandy happened, when Dabo happened, when various red cards happened. All moments, which could have been accidental or provoked, so I gave him the benefit of any doubt.

He doesn't deserve any benefit now or any attention. He's *chosen* to be a prick now repeatedly. He's now achieved something that I'd never have imagined possible - he's made me forget club loyalties. If him and Neville were to end up in a fight, I'd be hoping that Neville smashed his face in. It's all he deserves.

Spot fucking on. Chosen is the key word. He made his point (albeit it was a flimsy one) and could have left it at that. But he's choosing to continue the character assassination on Aluko and I actually feel sorry for her; she'll probably be a nervous wreck every time she goes on set now. It feels personal with him, because I refuse to believe any man would get riled as much as he has, and in the public sphere, over a woman commentating unless they were prejudiced.

It's all a transparent performance. He's decided that he's going to cultivate an online presence on podcasts or YouTube by appealing to "anti-woke" simpletons.

It's no coincidence that this all came after he appeared on a podcast of another lowlife shortly before this. His twitter feed is also full of someone sending out the message of "I'm outside the mainstream".
 
I just think he's totally attention seeking and doubt very much he actually believes anything he's putting out there. Some people are just missing something in life, we all knew a person like that at school or in the workplace. If only he could just actually be ignored in the media.

Nedum is by far the best pundit out there, so balanced & articulate with no agenda but providing facts without a bias or trying to create a narrative.

Nedum has also outed Barton for being a grade 1 **** & a bully years ago.

Having said all that if Barton can “take 1 with him” & chooses a **** like Neville then I’m all for it.

I reckon most people pay their hard earned purely so they can watch the game not with any expectation of the punditry at all. Very rare that I watch the pre or post match so called analysis even after a great City performance. I don’t need a so called expert to explain to me what I’ve just seen.

I will make an exception when the rags have been humiliated again. Always good to see them get ripped in the studio after

He knew he would get it and they have delivered in spades. You can’t demand he shuts up whilst no one else will.

This time warning women who he claims shagged their way into jobs that he knows who they are.

And threatening black people with a war if they want to come for him.

Assuming he’s not having some kind of breakdown, and this is all a calculated campaign of self publicity, I’m struggling to see what his end game is here.

I wish so fucking hard that the people getting outraged by all this would resist the temptation to tweet about or at him over this, because he's getting what he wants.

You're exactly right, he's pivoting towards the GB News far-right crowd hard, he's using all the lingo, and he knows this is his last chance to remain relevant in any way.

He's a shitty human being. The standard of punditry from women on men's games is not the issue here.

And once again, Michael Owen and Alan Shearer are Champions League/World Cup veterans and I never need to hear their opinion on men's football ever again. If the female pundits are bad, it's because they're bad. Not having played men's football is not the problem.
