Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

it happens, remember there game at palace a few years back, 1 point behind on tues and a draw at liverpool il be delighted
Okay. I’d still love to know where they’ll drop. Not sure where I can see it, looking at who they have left (apart from us).

Not a great result but I thought we played well enough to win and the lads gave absolutely everything. Cannot fault them.

Thought we showed desire and hunger to claw something back, which is a great sign.

Title races should be like this. They shouldn’t be straightforward. You have to have grit and massive bollocks to deserve to be champions.

This is a proper 3 horse race. There’ll be more twists and turns.

We need to win the game in hand and just nestle in a point behind the dippers breathing down their necks.

Those of you crying and shitting yourselves, either man up or fuck off.

You mean like every decent attacker does? Get's himself in front of the defender and invites the contact by slowing down a little?
No, because what Walker did was simply foul Sterling. It’s different. What he should do is get his body infront of Sterling, not just his leg. Dangling his leg out is just tripping Sterling up, a foul and free kick for them. Getting his body between ball and man is what could give him the advantage you’re talking about. He didn’t do that.

It took opponents about 10 games to figure out how to handle Haaland. 2 big defenders either side of him a few yards ahead of the keeper and he's pretty much neutralised. We have gone from a free scoring side to a team its easy to frustrate. Throw in a high flat line for a slow back 4 ,only Rodri in midfield and this is what we get.
Pep is just repeating this strategy game after game with a team that is now really missing Gundogan and even Mahrez,

If Pep starts with the right line up we win that comfortably.

Surely the Alvarez in midfield won’t come out again?…

The fact we didn’t lose has to be a positive. Chelsea got their tactics spot on and really should have scored 3 or 4. It’s the best a side has played against us since Villa.

The frustration is that in recent seasons we pinch a late winner (we had more than enough chances), keep the winning streak going and send a hammer blow to our rivals.

The ref was utter wank and got three huge calls wrong IMO. Caicedo had to be sent off for that foul. It was reckless, excessive force and clearly endangered Doku. The Walker non-penalty and last minute handball are less obvious. But we’ve seen penalties given for a heck of a lot less this season. It appeared to me that Walker and Sterling were in a race, Walker gets his body in front and Sterling clips him. How the foul went the other way it beggars belief.

However, the real reason we failed to get the three points was the big man up top. He was a freak last season and rightly got all the plaudits he deserved. This season though he’s been shite. He’s probably got a highlight reel of absolute sitters missed as long as his goals catalogue from last season. That needs to change or we will win fuck all this season.
The Walker/Sterling penalty situation is interesting to me. If the ref gives a goal kick you can argue it’s not clear and obvious. But since he gives a free kick against Walker it is objectively a clear and obvious mistake…

Really need Haaland to start scoring regularly again. If he doesn’t we won’t have enough to win the league.

Definitely finding the second season to be tricky. Still think city need another creative player in the mould of Dave silva.
Need another striker as just Haaland and alveraz are not enough. We can’t keep blaming the ref every week .

Mentally weak cunts.
Think some thrive on it. There’s some who are going out of their way to say we wasn’t robbed of a penalty shout (we were) then the added time was right(it wasn’t) and that Chelsea weren’t worthy of going down to 10 (they were)‘I’m sure most aren’t blues on here, convinced of it.

That last minute penalty btw, I am convinced it is. He moves his arm to the ball and changes its momentum and direction. I just cannot for the life of me understand why no one else thinks it was a penalty.
I agree with you . I am normally circumspect on these things but that was a penalty for the reasons you say.

I think the one where Haaland is dragged to the ground is a penalty and the one where the guy elbows a player in the face is probably a penalty and the one where the guy juggles the ball with his arm is a penalty but other than that probably about right
All the commentators in my stream said the Haaland incident in the first half was a penalty

Not our best day by any stretch, however some of the entitlement on here is simply embarrassing.
Bluemoon logic lately:

If we win it is excellent coaching and execution by the players

If we lose….

It is all a conspiracy by the refs to take us down.

We need to own our failures today. Haaland missed two sitters.

Worry from today is how open and bad at the back we are. Chelsea are not good and they could easily of been 2/3 up before we really got back in it.

2 points dropped, but that might turn out to be an important point.
