Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Penalties aside (I think the second half ones were pens just not the Haaland one first half) it’s the 4 minutes that winds me up. Chelsea wasted time so much, they even got booked for it. When that happend at Arse they get 10 mins! We are being totally mugged off!
I wish Pep would call it out. Or at least the club ask for some explanation from PigMob.

The fact we didn’t lose has to be a positive. Chelsea got their tactics spot on and really should have scored 3 or 4. It’s the best a side has played against us since Villa.

The frustration is that in recent seasons we pinch a late winner (we had more than enough chances), keep the winning streak going and send a hammer blow to our rivals.

The ref was utter wank and got three huge calls wrong IMO. Caicedo had to be sent off for that foul. It was reckless, excessive force and clearly endangered Doku. The Walker non-penalty and last minute handball are less obvious. But we’ve seen penalties given for a heck of a lot less this season. It appeared to me that Walker and Sterling were in a race, Walker gets his body in front and Sterling clips him. How the foul went the other way it beggars belief.

However, the real reason we failed to get the three points was the big man up top. He was a freak last season and rightly got all the plaudits he deserved. This season though he’s been shite. He’s probably got a highlight reel of absolute sitters missed as long as his goals catalogue from last season. That needs to change or we will win fuck all this season.
Chelsea are the best side we've played since Chelsea.
Pep admires Pouch and you can see it everytime we play one of his teams

I can't understand why Doku didn't run at their full back when he was one on one with him. Instead he kept waiting until they doubled up on him, then he just passed it backwards to Ake. He should have at least have had a go at him to try and get in the penalty area and maybe flash a cross along the six yard line or even have a chance of getting a penalty.

I’ll take a point based on that performance. Akanji can’t do what Stones does horrible to watch. Ake and Rodri brilliant. Biggest issue for me this season remains our recruitment. We are not at the same level, don’t have the game changers we had last year. No Mahrez no Gundo. Doku not questioning his effort but nothing comes from him. Nunes and Kovacic are on bench for good reason.

Not good but at least we have managed to salvage something out of it. Saying that we have got ourselves out of worse situations than if we had lost tonight.

Disjointed again don‘t seem to have a full throttle 90 mins in us, worryingly open at the back as have been all season. 2nd half better pressure but chance conversion is miles away from where it should be.

Bad day at the office. Both Haaland and Kevin weren't at their best, especially Haaland. Guess he wasn't sufficiently concentrated due to the death of his grandma. He's only human.

Think we'll win the title. Have had that feeling that it will go to the wire.

Now we know that we won't go to Anfield to play for a draw. Anyway, this team will fight until the end.

Don't think it's too bad a point to be honest, considering the away trip midweek and Chelsea having a full week to prepare with no distractions.

Chelsea played well from what I saw. Maybe you're right, but maybe he felt the need to rest players given the upcoming number of games?
We are not privvy to fitness levels of players , agree Chelsea defended for their lives and if they had a decent striker would have won, game could have been over by half time if they still had a Drogba.

Can’t win them all.

No lack of effort and we had chances to win so I don’t think there should be an overreaction.

Chelsea played like Championship club away at a Premier league team so it’s not easy playing against a packed defence.

To be going for 4 th title in a row is amazing. So to the next game.
