For the game at anfield, maybe we could do something like leave 2 defenders back when we have a corner and make sure they are defenders who can actually defend.
Not a bad shout that, fewer bodies in the box will be a better thing, getting a bit fed up with the pushing and pulling around the keeper etc.

Game at Anfield is obviously huge, I too wouldn’t play Doku in that one. Ball retention is key here.

Foden has been great in the middle but if Grealish isn’t going to be fit for it I’d like to see
Haaland
Foden KDB Alvarez Bernardo
Rodri

For ball retention Kovacic would be a better option than Alvarez. Pep will start a midfielder next to Rodri to help out in the build-up, either Bernardo (then Foden on the right) or more likely Kovacic if sufficiently fit (then Foden on the left).

The key to Anfield is attitude and bottle - we need to overcome our rabbits in headlights performances there. We have the players and system to pick them apart.
That’s sounds wonderful the way you describe it. However it clearly isn’t the reality of the situation. The crowd clearly has an affect on the opposition and the ref.

You have to go back 5 years to the last time they properly beat us at Anfield

Most of the current squad will see it as a tough match, but not one they've particularly struggled in.
I actually think it is more : Jan 2018. Since then:
- 2017/18 CL: one of the most blatant hometown ref game in living memory
- 2018/19: Draw - Mahrez tries to put a ball on Mars
- 2019/20: Infamous OliVAR-Arnold handball
- 2020/21: Gundogan/Foden masterclass
- 2021/22: Draw; Milner stays on after at least 3 yellow card offenses
- 2022/23: Foden goal chalked off for imaginary foul on Thiago

Not going to happen this year unless Liverpool and Arsenal have a poor run in. One might but both wont.

It all starts with the summer window for me.

Doku, Nunes and Kovacic were simply not good enough or needed to take this City team on.

Nunes is very rarely trusted, Kovacic can't stay fit and Doku is just not ready for this level of football yet.

very bad turn of events this round, two rivals with easy wins scoring most their chances improving GD away from home, while us missing everything, dropping points at home.

also a fixture we won last season, this takes us to minus 7 points fixture to fixture now. if thats a sign of things to come and we do finish 7 points worse off, that is 82 points finish. that aint enough for a title this season imo.

the only games left in our fixtures which we did not win last season:
Brentford home (lost)
Pool away (lost)
Spurs away (lost)
Brighton away (draw)
Forest away (draw)

I do think there are quite a few points we will lose again in above 5 games. we aint blowing teams away much this season.

and that comes with also beating all teams we did last season too without error like Arsenal home, rags home, Villa home, Wolves home, Palace way, Bournemouth away, Fulham away etc.

it will be brutal hard

Had a feeling already in October that we wouldn't go on a big winning run this season and that it wouldn't be necessary to win the title this season either, as both Liverpool and Arsenal will drop enough points.

It's going to the wire. I think we'll win the title.

We draw to much at home & our results against top/big 6 doesn`t look good. Even we are still in this title fight i`m not optimistic.

we really need Arsenal and Liverpool both go far in CL/EL to be distracted. neither of them hd midweek game this week, and they were fresh to win way from home. Chelsea was fresh too.
wouldnt surprise me if Arteta throws CL vs Porto if they find it hard tho, he has form of getting out of cups early...
hpe Porto goes physical like they used to do and dont let the tie be over first game.

I think it suits Arsenal having mid-week fixtures.

Only playing once a week was a disaster for Arsenal at the back end of last season. They had an entire week to dwell on draws and losses whilst watching us win both at weekend and mid-week.
