it might surprise you to know that as a young child i was occasionally quite naughty.
my nan used to say to me,
"if you don't behave we'll send you to see cyril smith".
if i continued to misbehave she would say,
"right, we're sending you to see cyril smith's brother!"
(who was considered and talked about as much much worse).

everyone knew what was going on
(not unlike in nazi germany, although to a lesser extent).

when i continued, thankfully, i was never sent anywhere but my bedroom,
with cheese and bread and milk for supper,
which were my favourite things, in fact.
no incentive to change really.

The latest El Niño event has finished and the Pacific has been cooling for the past week. No El Scorchio this year?
