TV Series

Ripley shite, Fallout shite , shogun shite, like most new series today if that’s what you call good tv give your head a mighty wobble

Watched the first episode of Ripley. Bored shitless. About 20 mins of story and 40 mins of self indulgent art house cinema. Pointelss frames over and over every 2 seconds. Why the fuck is it in black and white? Tells you all you need to know. Pretentious.

Ripley getting praised mainly for the cinematography and B&W used for noir in reviews not the story pacing and acting.
so don't think I will bother.

Shogun - best telly of this year if you don't like it not sure what to say, it stays faithful to the book, gives respect to the setting (has been praised in Japan for it's authenticity of the Edo period) is well acted and paced

Fallout - brilliant, well acted, good pacing and story, caught the tone and feel of the source material.

Depends what genres and formats you like your TV to be but liking these does not require a wobble of the head anymore than people who watch corrie or a place in the sun, a simple I like it or I don't is sufficient tbf :-)

Part way through Season 2 of Love/Hate. Pretty good so far.

Also first 6 episodes of 3 Body Problem. Have liked what I have seen, though am more intrigued by the plot than the characters.

But the real revelation has been the Australian crime series Underbelly. Each season is based on true life events involving drug dealers. Some truly memorable characters in the first two seasons (again am half-way through the second one).

Should appeal to fans of Mr Inbetween, Kin, Gomorrah, The Wire, The Shield and the aforementioned Love/Hate. Think it’s available on Amazon Prime.
Thanks for the post
Underbelly it is for us next.

Have you actually played any of the Fallout video games?

The show capture the style, tone and dark humour of the games perfectly. It's a brilliant adaptation of a beloved games franchise

Just finished Ripley loved it , might watch Fallout,do you need to of played the game or will i understand it??
Not really but it definitely helps. They do a good job of explaining the world of fallout in the first episode but it you want to dive deeper in to the lore most video games websites over the last couple of weeks have done comprehensive guides on the fallout timeline.

There's also a load of videos you can watch on YouTube

Or I can give you a quick run down if you want

Baby Reindeer is fucking nuts. If what the real stalker did only did half of what’s on the show, I hope she’s currently in a straight jacket somewhere. Bonkers.
