Phil has been brilliant this season and deserves the ward but got to feel for Rodders. He’s without doubt been the strongest player in the world in his position for the past couple of years. The guy is invincible.Whilst I don’t think awards like this should be voted on until the season is over, I am delighted that this young man has be recognised by a high percentage of football writers in this country. One can easily get carried away about how good the players at your club are (although a lot of our supporters seem to go the other way?) so when a large group who are unquestionably not biased in favour of MCFC vote for one of our own, it tells you that we really are seeing someone special develop before our own eyes.
I think Rodri is a little unfortunate not to win and certainly to be behind Rice! So long as both our boys finish ahead of the latter in the league.
Congrats to Phil & Bunny.
No Kevin, Vincent, David or Sergio?Well done Phil.
Following in the footsteps of Don Revie 1955, Bert Trautmann 1956, Tony Book 1969, Raheem Sterling 2019 Ruben Dias 2021, Erling Haaland 2023
Spot on. If it was Tront Alexander Arsehole then you wouldn't hear the last of it.Phil Foden and Bunny Shaw for a FWA double but not a lot of coverage
Rashford probably..I would love to know who Custis voted for. The pleb!
Absolutely mateClearly a deserved award. Stand out player in the league, no doubt.
I'm sure Pep will keep Phil grounded, though. He still has so much potential to realise.
Thinking of the Real Madrid games: Phil popped up at one vital moment (proving that he has the cojones for the big stages), but was absent for large parts of both legs.
He's only 23. For context, we signed David Silva and Aguero when they were respectively that age. He's already achieved much of what they did.
But his next step is to become an omnipresent influence on every match he plays. He has already demonstrated an ability to "grab games by the scruff of the neck." But now? He needs to step up in more of the big games in a bigger manner.
When he does that, he will win Ballon D'Ors, possibly even a World Cup medal or two. Such is his talent.
FWA POTY at 23 years old is a huge achievement. And deserved. But Phil can't rest on his laurels. His ceiling is too high.
That’s why he signed the contract. It's bent as fuck...we all know he just sits on the bench every game.
It'll be jude bellingham and he'll still be 19So, exactly 60 years ago Bobby Moore won it at 23.
Exactly 30 years ago, Alan Shearer won it at 23.
Phil won it this year aged 23.
Expect an Englishman to win it, aged 23 in 2054.
