FA Cup Final - Post Game thread

I agree with your sentiment about days out when we’ve lost. But, that was hard to take yesterday, not seen fans as angry at that performance for a long while, more so cause it was them. Half time completely subdued. Onwards and upwards, to the transfer forum :)
Width of the crossbar, a miss from Julian, Phil failing to connect with a cross just like his second v West Ham, Walker's great hit, Josko's cock up, Kyle not tracking back for their 2nd, all fine margins.

We score first it's a completely different game, one of those where we dominated the ball but couldn't quite get there, as disappointed as any Blue but far from feeling like I have from struggles and relegation's from the previous 40 + years.

I am crazy drunk, so bear with me on this.

When I was a kid Pa Bollo was posted up to Northumberland. While there the Falklands happened and he was sent to the top of Mount Kent to man a big radar pointing at Argentina. Pa B always had fond memories of Butch, the family tripehound/collie cross that terrorised Benchhill while he was growing up. Apologies if you were bitten by Butch. So, before he left, we acquired a border collie pup.

Moss was the product of a well-regarded working dad and pet mum. The farmer who owned the dad was worried that the local working collie bloodlines were getting a bit inbred and wanted to mix things up a bit. Most of the males of this happy union went on to become working dogs, whereas the females went as pets.

In the style of most Northumbrian collies, despite being a lady Moss was a bit of a unit. Her size combined with that big collie brain made her a bit of a handful. Because of this, the 13 year old me and Moss were sent to obedience classes.

After the first class or two, another attendee offered to give me and Moss a lift to and from the class. She was a very lovely, quite posh lady who completely dominated my pubescent dreams.

Anyways, my lift’s dog was a young pedigree doberman, absolute crufts royalty. She really was a beautiful animal and also very sweet-natured. But when it came to training, this dog completely fucked it up. She wasn't dumb. She wasn’t especially difficult, but at those key moments when she had to perform, she’d look up and either pee or run to an exit and scratch at the door.

My point. Despite the beautiful football and years of success, there are times when City remind me of that doberman. We look fucking gorgeous. We’re capable of a dazzling level of football. But sometimes for no discernible reason we absolutely shit the bed.

Christ I’m pissed.
I think it might be more than the drink Bolo!!

Well there is someone who works for City who lives round the corner from me and they said to my wife yesterday that they’d been on it most of the week and they thought they’d just turn up and win, she was fuming at the end of the match knowing this.
So you know someone who knows someone who wouldn't have actually been at any of these supposed piss ups and you take it as gospel? It's bollocks.

Now those were the days

yes I know my wife and this person works at City, that person was fuming after the match and said they’d been on it most of the week, as that person works there during the week I think they’d know a bit more why would they lie? They have nothing to gain from it. That person will be at the staff do tomorrow as well by the way.

In this day and age where everyone has a camera pictures would be everywhere. I saw one picture of Grealish on the Monday morning after winning the league. Nothing else yet it's said that players were on the piss till Wednesday or even on holiday abroad.
Are there pictures to back this up ?

Sums it up well. We need some changes now. Some of our stars are at an age when they will slowly be phased out. We have been magnificent but time waits for no one and Pep will be ruthless with buying and selling in the summer. The team looked mentally tired yesterday. Shame it happened against United who were very ordinary despite the media hype.
So who’s potentially at threat??

Walker, Cancello (obvs), Gomez (obvs), Stones, Phillips (obvs), Bernardo, Grealish and Nunes

This is more or less it. The disappointment is compounded because it was against the red shitehawks.

100% and the FA Cup is the most overrated competition in the world.

Like everything in the UK , tradition is holding it back, Abide with me, FFS
That's true. When I went to the spurs cup final ( both of them) donkey's years ago everyone sang it, yesterday no one bothered. I hadn't even realised that it was happening, where I was sat everyone was singing City songs.

The club should reimburse some of the ticket money to fans for that performance. I get the mantra of 'you can't win em all' and those that say we've still had a good season, and I agree with both. However, it was clear to see yesterday that celebrations from the league title impacted the performance, either a literal or metaphoric hangover was evident. Fans paid huge amounts of money to watch a team play who obviously hadn't prepared properly and as a result couldn't be blamed for asking for money back. The fact it was against our local rivals makes it even more annoying. The players know how much it means to beat local rivals and yet not a single one of them, except maybe Doku, showed any respect to their own fans

After such a long season I wouldn't blame any of them for taking a day or two abroad to recuperate, it's not like they can't afford the best travel options. I just don't believe this bollocks about being on the piss all week. Pep would have put the U18's out if that was true.

When Rodri is shooting from 50 yards you know something is up.

I though the 'big celebrations' were a mistake last Sunday. I've been saying it at work all week.

I know the argument is the players need to celebrate, but mentally you lose that 1or2% that's needed. It's like 'job done, season over'. We did it after Chelsea last season and drew with Brighton and lost at Brentford (with a much changed team I know).

On yesterday's game I agree with the comments on the CBs.
Why play Stones and Ake? Stones has hardly kicked a ball since the semi and Ake limped off at Fulham; playing the last 20 mins against West Ham.
Arrogance? Or has Stones' agent been claiming he's unhappy.
Seriously we needed Akanji's pace and we needed Dias' organisational skills.

We've not had a Pep brainfart for a while (or we've won if he has!) but he got this massively wrong.

And before anyone replies; I'm not entitled (I'm a season ticket holder of over 40 years) but losing yesterday has hurt. You lose games and that happens, but you give yourself the best opportunity to win them.

Yesterday we didn't.
