Trophy Parade | Sunday 26th May, 19:30

Not a commentary on the event itself, the turnout or anything like that, I just feel that the concept of the street parade itself doesn't work anymore.

I'd much prefer the club to hold the parade event inside the stadium in future. They can plan it better, don't have to worry about much policing, the noise when the players and the trophies are presented, then they can do a final lap of honour around the stadium to be closer to the fans.

Yes, yes, I know, i'm going, i'm going...

No chance you'd fit that turnout in the stadium.

I think the issue with that is that it becomes a ticketed event, which would exclude loads of people. We must have had on average about 200+ thousand for some of these parades, so you’d be locking most of those people out.

It’s much better in town.

Nah, be shit mate.

And what do you think has changed, that it doesn’t work ‘anymore’?

I know they did it first time round but that was exceptional. It was the first time in the majority of peoples lifetime probably. Plus, it was at the end of the parade, not instead of it.

A parade is all about getting in town, hitting the pubs. Seeing the town centre gradually fill up with more and more blues.

And for the young ones, getting out there with their kits and flags. Seeing the players for possibly the first time ever in the flesh, for a lot of them.

It’s basically just like a big extended family party.

Having everyone traipse to the ground and politely sit there waiting for a lap of honour sounds no fun.

It’s basically just replicating exactly what goes on after the last game of the season, if it’s at home. Just minus the pitch invasion.

The kind of comments you refer to are of a uniquely blue moon forum mindset. I’ve never understood why they do it.

The same people try and scare blues off going to town on derby day or trips to Wembley when we play the rags with dire warnings of blues being endangered by marauding rags. Bizarre.

I must’ve been to over 50 derbies in my life and the occasional bits of relatively low level violence I’ve seen have overwhelmingly been blue on red. We’ve nothing to be scared of but some on here seem keen to perpetuate the myth that danger lurks around every corner
Rags & mibs are a bloody 'myth'.

They turn up in their minibuses, a 12/15 mob of socialy inadequate misfits from all the shite areas of UK

Their speciality is women, children & scarfers but only when the numbers are in their favour.

Against even numbers they usually get slapped as they did in Bengal St when they were laid to waste.

They like to start things but City lads usually step forward and end it, like they did in Harrow on Saturday.

Spot on pal

Me and my daughter have a little running private joke whenever we’re at big City occasions. Several times throughout the day you can guarantee we’ll encounter large groups of blues who it’s fair to say have a certain latent menace about them and one of us will say to the other “Christ I’m glad I’m a blue, I wouldn’t fancy falling out with those lads”

But In spite of having what in these sanitised days is a disproportionately large number of working class, up for whatever comes their way lads as part of our fanbase, incidents of our fans bullying other soft target type fans are virtually non existent.

The great thing about parades is that it is an opportunity for the many thousands of Manchester-based fans who can't afford ticket prices to see their heros. City has always been the club of the masses but these days so many people have been priced out of football. I couldn't get there last night but went to the one last year in the rain which was fantastic. What made it so joyous was the fantastic energy of so many of our younger fans. As a club we need to try harder to get some of them into the stadium.
I agree with your post, I thought this years event was just as good as last years. As I travel in by train to Manchester, I see the trouble families from outside of Manchester go to to get the young blues to these events and back home.
Like you I hope the club doesn't waste this goodwill and opportunity.

I must admit I was thinking just do it at the stadium but saw so many young families last night I changed my mind.

With the extension it would be great to get some of these young fans in with cheaper tickets but unfortunately created by the poor stolen by the rich runs true even at our club.

Stadium is a nightmare on match days,it would be worse on a parade day.Young families going by tram.Aye okay then.
The parade has outgrown the stadium. How would the dish out the flags and bananas in the stadium.
Far easier and better on the official route.

Absolutely. They can't fight sleep unless it's 20 to 1. Cowards from the 1970s. OK dissing ageing single blues but when they get a bite their arse falls out. Scum.

Good to see Blyes correcting posts in the socials where they’ve made it look like a bakers dozen attended. Absolute fucking morons on there.
A dickhead Rag tried it with me (as predicted) with a picture taken hours before so I told him to file it in his wank bank with his photo of an empty blue seat taken at half time.
Sent him a few videos and photos and asked when their parade was.
No reply so I sent him some pictures of their empty streets parade and told him they won't have one as no fucker would turn up and they haven't got enough local fans to fill a route and this is why nobody turns up for their Glazer Out marches either.
I think he's seen his arse with me :)

I hope that the expansion to 62,000 with the new North Stand provides more opportnities for City to release cheap tickets for families and kids for at least the early rounds of cup competitions.

Dont forget some of the FOCs.

I was in the pub in Belgrade that was attacked. Red Star Ultras came up the stairs to gain a foothold and cause havoc.

The speed at which they were despatched by some 50 year plus City fans was incredible.
