PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Why do some people think that the whole period up to 2024 is being investigated rather than 2009-2018?

The investigation only covers the first two seasons under Pep.

Because the charges cover 2009-2023, the panel covers all the charges inc. non coop.

The non cooperation charges were issued because the PL was investigating up to 2023 but (in their opinion at least) got blocked from doing so. Also they are serious charges (and theoretically harsh punishments) even if people think they’re lesser than the main financial charges.

He's a good poster and I think the pile on is over the top to be honest. As you say, his only crime is that he's a bit misinformed but nowhere near as much as some of the other whoppers we've come across during this process.

Sorry, I don't think the reaction has been over the top at all. It's not even close to the top imo.

Read that particular paragraph again. The reaction is well and truly deserved.

The Grauniad still use that settlement as proof we cheated.

It is technically, if you think breaching FFP is cheating.

The problem is that dozens of clubs have broken FFP but only one is deemed to be cheating when doing so. No one is writing that Everton cheated or Forest, or United or the Milan clubs or Galatasaray etc etc etc.

Nick Harris should be putting asterisks next to most of the clubs in his silly little list.

Not sure what you mean? Stefan says this happens all the time. If you mean how it is perceived then yes I agree with you.
But Stefan‘s examples are unlikely to have had the public profile of this. Questions have been asked in the House.

Not if it’s the biggest deduction in the history of English football. A minor fine, ok, but for 20 points we would have to accept guilt for something.
I understand your point and it would be perceived like that. I’m just saying that City could, in theory, accept a substantial punishment without any admission of guilt whatsoever.

It all depends how confident City are of winning. No case is ever more than 70% certain. There are plenty of incorrect decisions.

What? But? Wait? How?

You mean that ex mardarse manager of the mardarse club was being a mardarse in front of a hundreds of mardarses who all hail from the capital city of mardarses that is Liverpool?

Well I fuckin never.
Not part of England but the capital of the Independent People’s Democratic Republic of Mardarse.(Currency: The Hubcap. 10 to the dollar.)

IF it is him as both, just imagine how much of a psycho he is.
The fact that account gets so worked up that he's being called Nick Harris is confirmation enough it's Nick for me.lol

And the" I don't know what Blue Moon is..." Followed by gasps at the dismay of what he is reading.

Everyone knows forums right? Imagine being shocked at RAWK or Redcafe. Nope you just scan them for a laugh.

From what I'm reading and hearing it is likely some sort of deal gets done in the background, City get a 20 point deduction and a big fine - will mean they won't win the league that season but still qualify for CL. The hysteria that City get relegated to the National League or whatever is overkill - not in a million years will that happen and it's in the club's interests to wrap things up quickly and I'm sure the lawyers will be advising them that as for sure with 115 charges to go through some of them will stick, even though there's an element of subjectivity to them all.
And here's yet another thing you've got wrong. I know, for an absolute fact, that the PL approached City to talk about some sort of settlement. We don't know what that settlement was but if it was to accept a penalty in return for accepting lesser breaches, you don't make that sort of offer if your case is strong and ironclad.

The possibility is that the IC has informed the PL that, based on the evidence they've seen, their case is weak and has little prospect of success at a hearing. Or it could have been that the IC feel there's no case at all, and a hearing will be a complete waste of their time.

Whatever the specific circumstances, I know City completely rejected any settlement, as they did when UEFA offered one.
