Running thread

Thanks mate. I didn't realise the forerunner 55 doesn't have a tap to pay option. Think I'm gonna purchase the EPIX. Probably got more features than I need, but it looks far superior for the extra money to the Forerunner 55.

Cheers.
I've got the Forerunner 965 which has more features than I could ever want (even for a data junkie like me) and cheaper than the Epix. There are probably cheaper versions of the Forerunner that do contactless payments as well. The Vivoactive and Instinct do, I think. Decide what you need from the watch and then do a search for those features on Garmin's website.

Just had a emither off parkrun, I'm nearly upto 50 and they want me to buy a load of red shite, I shall reply and politely advise them of a suitable place they can ram it up
I know Parkrun is good for getting people into running, but for me the joy about running is that I don't need to join a club or be somewhere at a certain time to go for a run, I just "feel" like a run, put my trainers on and go. I joined Sale Harriers for about two weeks a few years ago and after 2 weeks I thought, nope I don't like getting tied down to a certain time and place and knocked it on the head. Its not like I run to be an Olympian, I run as I really enjoy it

That's the thing with this running malarkey mate, everyone gets different things from it.
I started out with parkrun, blowing out of my arse at the back, nowadays I just go mostly for the social aspect, but many do take it seriously, more so it seems the middle of the pack runners, I did one at the weekend and only went for a slow jog, I got elbowed in the face and barged of the path twice!! Surprised me how into it they were.
I hear you with the running club, whilst I wouldn't mind joining one, again for the social aspect, I do most of my runs early morning before work and enjoy it so until there's a 5am club I'm out

Still waiting for my email. If i get rejected it would be 9 in a row :)

Don't know why people bother so much.

Brighton is just as good in my opinion, massive crowds, good vibe, along the coast and better night life after.

£50 to enter, no sponsorship needed, no faffing around.

Might have a look at Brighton.Have done manchester and Seville but would like to do one major in my life i.e London,Boston,Berlin

Did my 50th parkrun this morning, mixed it in with some speed training on my marathon training plan, looked back at my first one which was in 2019, I came 442 in a time of 28.40, came 15th today and jogged half of it, parkrun pb is 18.05.
Parkrun is great for getting into running and also for the people you meet along the way, I would definitely recommend anyone who is considering it give it a go, and don't be put off thinking it's all fast cats, that's not what it's about, it's about getting better than you were yesterday.......oh and overtaking knob heads in rag shirts!!

This morning's Parkrun at Alexandra Park completed in 30:34.
My first time at this Parkrun. Very friendly marshalls, beautiful park and perfectly flat course.
I've done that a few times. It's a good course in wet weather as there is no grass or mud to navigate, just sometimes a few puddles.

I did Sale Waterpark again, clocking 31:06. We should join forces at one sometime soon.

Been on a really long recovery after breaking my shoulder socket, nearly 4 yrs ago. Keep getting muscle injuries on that side of the body (think I am not fully balanced), but managed to get to 7.25 miles in an hour on Sunday. Not quite where I was at but its getting there. Aiming for 10 miles by the end of July (not in that time) and then look at half marathons in Sept / October.
