Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

It's really pissing me off. It keeps switching between sports rather than follow a whole session. I want to watch the whole swimming sessions live, not just dropping in for a Brit then switching to someone windsurfing. They don't have the rights clearly, so it's all over the place which is disappointing.
The coverage of the cycling time trial was like an advert for Parisian architecture, barely saw the riders until they rode onto the bridge for the finish, but plenty of footage of old buildings.

The BBC coverage is woeful.

Why are there only two feeds online? you can watch Rowing or Judo, but then swimming is now on and i'm sure multiple other sports taking place.

Why can they not have more streaming options online?

(I am now using Eurosport to watch swimming)

Tried watching the men's mountain bike when I got home last night.
Went on I player and thought I had found it. It showed after the first 3 laps than stopped saying courage is now on BBC 2. I tried to find the rest of the race but could only find the highlights, what a dogs dinner that I player is.
What is the point of only showing half the race ?

My current pet hate is the star build up to a particular event - take Peaty as an example (not his fault btw). They do a piece on the back story which I’m sure most know anyway. Just show the live sport and then dissect it when it’s all done ffs!
Yep, I just had to sit through the swimming team drawing each other. It's like something you'd see on the City Youtube channel.

Hmm, Qin, the world record holder for men's 200m breaststroke was controversially cleared of 'accidental' doping (along with loads of other Chinese swimmers) and was bemoaning the fact that Chinese swimmers were being tested much more than any other big team this year in the run up to the Olympics. He just finished 6th in his heat. Not that I'm suggesting there are any links between these facts.

Random shit happens all the time ;)

4x200m freestyle looked comfortable as anything, without Scott or Richards as well.

James Guy swam a lifetime best on the 1st leg with a time that would have got 5th in the individual final. Looking good for gold.

Been tested 21 times this year and all of a sudden he's 5 seconds off of his world record. Quite obvious what he was doing.

Here's the start until 33mins:
Olympics, Day 3: BBC Two - Lunchtime: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0021ls0 via @bbciplayer

Here's from 36mins onwards:
Olympics, Day 3: BBC One - Afternoon: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0021kvm via @bbciplayer

BBC missed 3mins due to the changeover. Pretty important 3 mins though.

Not ideal though but Discovery+ have the rights now.

Emma Wilson in the Windsurfing absolutely ridiculous pace, think she's had 2 wins and 2 2nd's in 4 races.

That’s very true - dressage being a great example for me, pre whipgate
I think we just don’t understand dressage. It’s probably insanely hard to train horses to do that. It’s like the floor in gymnastics, but the horse is doing the moves.

I guess we can relate to how hard gymnasts have to train to become that balanced, strong and supple, but less so with horses.
