Something Special about Stockport?

Don't know how true this is but...

Tottenham – 78

Liverpool – 74

Aston Villa – 74

Everton – 68

Manchester United – 67

Arsenal – 63

Manchester City – 49

Chelsea – 49

Blackburn – 48

West Brom – 44

Not the club Bury the actual Borough Of Bury

Palmers wasn’t born in Stockport, but I think he was brought up in Gatley.

I think one of the main reasons for the high number of top players is that there are still a large number of kids football teams and amueter teams. A lot of places in say Manchester have lost that.

I also think having areas which are pretty working class (lots of those in Stockport) often helps to produce players like foden or palmer.
Palmer played for a Junior Football team in Gatley

The very definition of a pointless thread, predicated on inaccurate information. Remind me, when does the season start?

The emphasis, jim, is on the youngsters, not the once delightful but wholly within Cheshire urban district of Stockport.
Having spent virtually the entirety of my life in the County Borough (since 1974 Metropolitan District), my confidence is firmly in the prevailing moderation to ensure any derogatory comments about this still delightful place will be immediately vapourised.

I’m assuming we’re Stockport City as opposed to Oldham or somewhere because Mancs have migrated out. No different to West Ham in Essex etc.
