Matheus Nunes

A loan doesn’t benefit us in the slightest
Potential benefits include:

Financial wages plus loan fee

Player development Game time and experience of another league under a successful manager may make him a bigger asset than he currently is.

Less Disruption pep is keen on having a small squad and players who are partially developed not getting game time can be disruptive.

These may or may not be applicable but certainly can occur and the loan can benefit us whether it will or not is uncertain.

People are so naive in concluding he will get no minutes.
I agree. Pep spoke about wanting dribblers and ball carriers. There must have been some plan or intent there to include Nunes within the team. Personally don't want him to leave this late in the window. Had this happened 3-4 weeks ago, maybe the conversation would be different.

A player who will get next to no minutes not being around the gaff? We know how prickly these Portuguese are. Get his wages covered. Win win
And if he has a terrible loan? If he doesn’t play on loan? I don’t see who he plays ahead of at atletico so wouldn’t it be pointless?

Also Bernardo and Ruben are just fine :)

Very true. He got three of em on Saturday...

Yep. That's how squads work.

Like when we won the title because Delph that wasn't going to get any minutes played a whole run at LB when needed. Or when the doomed Zinchenko ended up being a key player for us. Or Ake, that should have returned to Chelsea because he wouldn't get any minutes ended up being our best defender. Or Akanji, who was a nonsense unnecessary signing ended up..

Sometimes it is like people here don't even watch our football, deferring instead to transfermarket predictions.

And where do you suggest we play Nunes so he can get a run?
