Hard man city 11

How are we defining hard?

Fair question, and we all probably view it differently. I personally don't think the likes of Barton, Keane fall into that category. I certainly wouldn't be concerned if I was confronted by either of them.

Not sure if we're discussing being hard on and off the pitch. Someone like Duncan Ferguson would definitely fall into both categories.

If we are picking people for brutality, Robert Hopkins, who committed the worse tackle I’ve seen by one of ours, including Thatcher, and the WBA player on the receiving end was on the running track beside the pitch at the time. But if it a pick for hard efficiency, Fernandinho had all the dark arts and could really play as well.
I had completely forgotten Hopkins ever played for us? & whats weird having looked up the dates he did play for us I was probably stood in the ground watching him! old age is a bastard :-)

Are we doing hard players on the pitch or players who would be good in an actual fight?

Lee, Summerbee and Doyle would definitely be in my City XI going into a battle. Dennis Tueart rarely backed down from a fight and Wyn Davies enjoyed the physical side of things too.

To be fair his footballing contribution was instantly forgettable, his tackling less so.

Take it you prefer Thatcher then :-)
Defo a bigger thug than Pearce. I think folk confused that fact that Pearce is thick as mud with him being some kind of brooding tough guy. The fella took a child’s toy into the dug out with him. Odd fella but not a psycho.
