Rodri Injury Updates | City say ligament injury (pg117)

I think we'll see Pep sacrifice one of the attacking players and go to two holding midfielders. Why try and cover for Rodri with one player when he's the best in the world at what he does? It will likely take 2 players to make up for it in that area of the pitch. IMO anyway.

A line-up like:

GK: Ederson/Ortega

RB: Walker/Lewis
CB x2: Stones/Dias/Ake/Akanji
LB: Gvardiol/Ake

DM x2: Kovacic/Lewis/Gundo/Stones/Gvardiol
CM (attacking/sole 8): KDB/Gundo/Lewis/Foden/Nunes

RW: Foden/Savinho/Doku
ST: Haaland/KDB/Foden/Gundo
LW: Grealish/Doku/Savinho

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Akanji used as a coupled-up DM at some point. His reading of spaces and pace to recover is vital. And his passing range is fantastic with both feet.
Yeah from recollection Akanji was better as the DM of the DM pair of you know what I mean than Stones.

We have Kovacic, Gundogan, and Stones (and Lewis) who are every bit as good as Partey, Jorginho, and Endo. Rice not even a sole number six, lol. Arsenal fans largely hate Partey and think Rice is unreliable as a lone six, which is why Jorginho and Partey constantly partner him.
Might be time for Stones to step up to the plate. See if he has what it takes for the roll.

Look at the risk of getting flamed I don't think Pep will have been happy to see Haaland stoke the fires in that way and provide extra motivation. Clearly personal rivalries are developing on the pitch (even if the managers share great mutual respect and friendship) and so I think it's safe to say matches between the 2 will from now on need to be watched from behind the sofa. Haaland seemed out of control at times and whilst no doubt City fans will love to see that, it does indicate him getting wound up and it's one thing doing that at his home stadium but he's now created a viper-pit atmosphere for the game at the Emirates. City are more than capable of handling that but why make it even tougher than it would otherwise be? It's like creating an extra trip to Anfield from a City perspective.

Likewise Arsenal's shithousery guarantees City away will from now on be even harder than it was before as the fans will be even more up for it than they were before. I'm thinking City-Madrid of a couple of years ago levels of crowd atmosphere which makes it almost mission impossible.
Viper pit at the Emirates. I was there the night of the beast from the east, and you lot never showed up at home. Viper pit…

Stones/Akanji step into CM from CM
Rico steps in from RB
Gundo/Kova play the 6

reasses at Jan if needed.

Is there a list anywhere or on any website of which free agents are out there at the moment?
Be surprised if it’s high on quality.

yeah its not pretty, no one id take.

Because the reality is Begiristain did nothing to make City better. Spending money on Phillips and Nunes is ok? The problem is lack of top planning in the recent windows and the board is paying for their sins to have no plan B. EVERYBODY told it, nobody from the club has done it. The fact is we are lacking pure pragmatism in this board. We have not signed no Rodri’s and Haalands back-up and for everyone it was fine. Open your eyes.
Respectfully, I disagree.

Rodri back up? Form an orderly queue folks.

Who wants to be - and at the same time is good enough to be - understudy to the world’s greatest Central Defensive Midfielder? Who’s good enough to play for City in top-level games when required, but self-effacing enough to make do with Bristol Rovers away in the Carabao and some sub appearances when we’re 5-0 up at Dinamo Vladivostok? Ain’t no-one out there. If they’re good enough, they wouldn’t want the gig; if they’re happy with what’s on offer, game-time wise, they’re either lacking in ambition, or past it, or unproven.

Ditto Haaland at Centre Forward. We’ve got the best.

If only we had a world class coach who can progress beyond Plan A.

Pep won’t give two shites mate tbh , proper teams would have at least tried to attack even with ten men , it’s clear that we live in your fucking heads every day of the week , shutting up shop without one wide player on the pitch says more about captain black than anything else , he shat his pants leading a game winning 2-1 and only 5 games into the season. And I’d be more worried about your team’s discipline, its every fucking week your manager is bleating about decisions, you’re such an emotional embarrassment of a fanbase and it gets played out every single season in the league cups and European competitions, a bunch of shithouses supported by shithouses , concentrate on spurs for rivalry , at least you can play a big fish in a small pond in doing so.
4 in a row sunshine.

Giving Grealish 300k per week who cannot score 5 goals per season, giving Stones 250k per week and not having room for signing Rodri’s back-up. Incredible planning.
They're better value than your stupid fucking posts, which are free and worth less than that, you fraud.

Thor out of control lol, you are looking for an excuse to nobble him as you did in a post last night , disgusting and pretending you dont condone it is not at all convincing , you coudnt possibly make your place intimitating, fuck off with that shite
It’ll be intimidating for the first 5 minutes until we take control and arse fans will start leaving after 70 minutes.

FFS

We faced this sort of shit every time we played in the third division

Every game was the other teams cup final

We are Champions for a reason and we fight till the end and for each other

Fuck the tarquins and any other fucker who wants it with our team

Stones is more than capable of bossing it in there if fit. He’ll get us to Christmas for sure.
I’m surprised people actually believe this. Stones is not a metronome. He can step into midfield from defence to join up with Rodri, but he is not capable of being the designated pivot and hub of the entire team, controlling tempo, building attacks, resisting pressure. Stones honestly can’t do it as the Rodri replacement. He can compliment him but not replace him.
